Of course Unicorns don't need that
...and this is a totally weird idea. Yeah.

I always thought that the grip stuck out of the side, and closer to the middle, for balance purposes.

Well, in Left 4 Ponies 2, they handle their guns very well.

Are you sure? I agree with revolvers and semi-automatics but....let's start with grenade launcher. I think that stock is gonna break your neck like that. It's more of a battle saddle weapon. But if you want it more... portable, make it mounted on a hoof with bs-like mouth trigger. So it won't take 1 AGI from your stats)
Automatics. Straps are no good. If you are a pony (and I'm quite sure you are) you would want your mouth to be avalible for stuff, other then shooting. What if you need to through a grenade or say something? The answer is recoil reduction. Take a gun and a mouth grip apart, stick something like strings with sliders or simple hydraulics in between and there you have it. Probably won't work IRL, but at least it would look believable)
And sniper rifle. What you did is interesting, but it's like watching a guy thying to fire 2 shotguns simultaneously. You know how it will end, but until the last second you pray for it to look cool on camera. And then one of the shotguns kicks him in the face>_> In short, your construction would probably tear the head of the body. How the fuck do they aim? Not like that. Usualy it's zebra style or laying on the ground. Most of the time, that bipod is in use. And again, mouth grip should be either with some sort of recoil reduction or sliding freely on the side of the gun...probably along with the scope, so it wouldn't take your eye out. And it's the only gun, that has to have a human-like stock due to the pose it's being used in.
Sorry for taking so long, I hope that'll help^_^'''

I really have no idea how ponies shoot with their mouth... This is just my poor imagination, and I felt exactly same as you do while I'm drawing.

I always had the idea that the stock on longer pony weapons (ei rifles/shotguns) is positioned below the bitegrip to brace against the cleft between one of the forelegs and the torso. Or, that it curves around the neck and connects to a pad on the upper shoulder/back, so the the recoil is absorbed by the scapula.

Aaaand I hope there is some recoil absorbtion. Otherwise most guns would be for one use per pony.

yeah thats why im sometimes confused when Calamity uses Spitfire's Thunder... i just dont see how it works at times lol
when its on a battle saddle i can see it working for him but when he just picks it right of the ground and has to shoot it... it just seems like it would be a pain for him...
but they dont call him "Deadshot Calamity" for nothing so eh....

I think that's the beauty of how Kkat writes. The way the weapons work is so vague that it is up to artist to interpret how the weapons work, which leads to some awesome works like this www.deviantart.com/art/Thunder…

Well, you can't compare Spitfire's Thunder to other sniper rifles, since it's an anti-machine rifle and has a whole array of recoil reduction talismans)

I think most of the time he used it, he was in the air, letting him use his forelegs to steady it. i know for a fact he shot it from the ground a few times, though. Hay if I know how.
