Maria Stark Foundations Valentine's Charity Event
SHIELD requests the Avengers to do public appearances, and whenever Tony lets something explode or the Hulk smashes one too many things, they don't request anymore. They order. A request he could have refused. An order he cannot. And he would have done anything really, put back on his old stage uniform, jump of the Empire State. Anything but this.
On paper, it's been decades since he has seen them last. To him, it has been only a few months. But either way, he was too late. He doesn't want to be here.
Finally, most of the Avengers in one picture. And then Captain America had to go and be sad. Sorry, I had to do this. I just want to give Steve a hug. This was actually my interpretation of Valentine's Day, but life is so horribly busy at the moment.
Painted in Photoshop, Bamboo Tablet, approx. 45 hours.

A lot happening in one piece! I love it.
I saw Captain America first movie two days ago and, man, the last part when Steve is running on the streets, lost, and saying he had a date was very sad T_T
I also saw the detail of Tony watching him through the mirror (I think he's watching him). It's like a symbolism of how it happens that he's usually (at least more in comics) the shoulder in where Steve could lean on in an era where he usually feels out of place
(I read recently a chapter in old comics where Steve was having those identity issues and Tony was the one that was worried about him. I think he empathizes a lot with him because he also knows how it feels to be lonely. I have the feels T_T hahaha)

I think there is an ongoing discussion whether he looks at himself (which seems to be the most common conclusion people come to) or at Pep or at Steve (which was my intended way of putting it).

I think there'd be a line of dancing partners that goes out the ballroom, out the building, and at least once around the block.

I first wanted to put Clint right in the middle on a table next to a ice sculpture cupid. But I figured they'd be more comfortable up there.

I think the line of people who'd dance with Steve is pretty long already. I figured this evening would end with every single one of the Avengers (and additions) would walk up to him and ask him to dance. Like all the girls teaching him their favorite steps and Clint teaching him to headbang. Or something. Ant Thor involving everyone to teach them an Asgardian dance that he had just made up.

Honestly, I don't know if it will happen.
Steve himself still has an identity that is very much composed of 'back then'. Which I think would be hard to overcome, but doable. However, almost everyone ELSE also identifies him as the man from the ice whose great love was lost in the war (they have it in the news reels). That is probably even harder to overcome than his own hang-ups. Competing with ghosts is not really a nice situation to find oneself in. And then ... I've seen so many people who've developed this magical thinking... if I love someone, I am going to lose them again (or get locked in ice for the next 70 years)
So yep, I do see some problems in starting to date.
And yes, Sharon in the comics and so forth. I do like the concept of Sharon. But I despise that actress with a passion - in all of her roles and years before Cap 2 and I can't even tell you why. I would not like it to see them actually proceed with this relationship.
