Description

Maria Stark Foundations Valentine's Charity Event
SHIELD requests the Avengers to do public appearances, and whenever Tony lets something explode or the Hulk smashes one too many things, they don't request anymore. They order. A request he could have refused. An order he cannot. And he would have done anything really, put back on his old stage uniform, jump of the Empire State. Anything but this.
On paper, it's been decades since he has seen them last. To him, it has been only a few months. But either way, he was too late. He doesn't want to be here.

Finally, most of the Avengers in one picture. And then Captain America had to go and be sad. Sorry, I had to do this. I just want to give Steve a hug. This was actually my interpretation of Valentine's Day, but life is so horribly busy at the moment.

Painted in Photoshop, Bamboo Tablet, approx. 45 hours.
Disclaimer: The Marvel characters are not mine, I just borrowed them from the Marvel movies. No profit is made from this.

Edit: This picture was turned into a very sweet story by lemonlollipop. You can read it here fav.me/d7bgn03

Oh wow, what fabulous work!
The level of detail and expression and the reflection of the chandelier in the glass doors, -- and--- EVERYTING!

i see Bruce there in the background with, i'm assuming is, Betty. Clint and Natasha up on the second floor. Tony and Pepper dancing like the adorable couple they are. Jane and Thor being the even more adorable couple they are and then there's Steve. Steve who i just want to hug tightly. though i'm sure i'd only come up to the middle of his chest since i'm 4'11. it'll still count as a hug though!
and then i realize that the picture is actually a reflection off the mirror and then you have another reflection in another mirror where we can see Tony's face which dude, is amazing. and sort of confusing in a way XD
amazing work!

Gassada In reply to Kogouma [2014-05-23 14:40:20 +0000 UTC]

Thanks so much!
Yes, I know, poor Steve, he deserves all the hugs he can get. And of course your hug would count as one! 4'11 - I can't believe I say that but you'd probably fit right up inbetween his pecs. Absolute perfect hug position.
And yes, I had Steve painted first and then I wanted Tony in there as well so you have the mirror. And while basically everyone of them looks alright when you mirror them, RDJ strangely enough looks a bit weird. So it became a double mirror effect. And you're right, it is supposed to be Betty.

you're welcome!
pffft. being so short does have it's advantages. face full of Captain America's pecs of freedoms. though, it does have it's disadvantages, i had a friend who was tall and every time she hugged me my face ended squished between her boobs. XD

Gassada In reply to Kogouma [2014-05-24 08:03:33 +0000 UTC]

Pecs of freedom, hahaaa. A friend of mine likes to do that as well, and she is really short too (I am 5'1, she's 5'3), so she goes up a step or two to give these boob-to-face-hugs

my friend didn't have to do anything like that, she was in the 6' range. she just grabbed me and hugged me. she sometimes said 'Boob attack!' which made me laugh XD

I'd dance with him all night, I took classes in school, I think I can remember some of the steps.
And yes, he deserves all the good things!

This took you 45 hours?! This would of taken me 45 YEARS. Amazing work! I commented on your capsicle drawing but I must say, this has to be my new favorite. Everything is colored in detail and their faces are spot on! Keep it up Gassada! Ā

I think it was about 45hrs over several weeks, maybe marginally more, but not a lot. I seldomly take much longer than that because I get impatient and then I just cut off the edges so the picture is smaller and I have less background to fill
Thank you so much, I am happy you like it. It was on my mind for a while and then I just had to paint it.
And thank you very much for the watch too!

I admire how you make your fans feel loved most people don't see that very often here in DA. It's a privilege for me to watch a wonderful artist like you! I'm always at the edge of my seat whenever I see new artwork, especially from you.
There has to be a moment like this in the Avengers 2, maybe the producers will come across your picture and become inspired by it Ā

Oh wow, this actually made me go a bit teary-eyed.

Thank you so much, dear! I am genuinely grateful and happy for everyone who takes the time to look at my pics, drops me a line or faves. It means a lot to me to be able to show my art and people talking to me about their responses and ideas and ships or anything else.

I really wish they'd show (in whichever movie) Steve dancing with ... NatBuckyTonyPeggy (my personal preferences, not necessarily in that order) ... but anyone really.
And ohhh there are so many expectations I have for Avengers 2!

Oh my, sorry for making you feel all of the feeeeeels! I just thought a wonderful artist like yourself really deserved to hear those things. You deserve every view, fave and comment!

Cap should have a bromance moment with Bucky or Tony one that shall make us, fangirls, squeal! Yes indeed, the Avengers 2 has a lot of things to cover when it comes to (b)romances, closure on some plot holes, completing some underdeveloped characters and many more.

I was so inspired with your drawing, I managed to grab a piece of paper and started drawing Cap and a mystery (wo)man dancing (the identity shall be revealed at the end!)

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

Gassada In reply to YenYui-AJ [2014-05-14 08:35:26 +0000 UTC]

Awww, no problem, dear.
I do hope for some Cap-Bucky AND Cap-Tony moments in the future. Hahaha, everytime I think about Avengers 2 I am getting excited.

Ooooh, ... do you upload these paintings or do you just keep them 'offline'? I'd love to see it, but of course only if you want to

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

YenYui-AJ In reply to Gassada [2014-05-15 11:43:07 +0000 UTC]

The bromance of Cap-Bucky will be an amusing relationship to see.
The adventure will (hopefully) never end when it comes to the MARVEL universe, almost any Marvel product tends to put fans on their toes and give them heart palpitations.

I have it on paper but I'm making some time to finalize it digitally on PaintTool Sai and Gimp. I'll be sure to PM you once it's done, oh gosh, just imagining you, viewing an artwork of mine, makes me have a tingly feeling people get when they ride a roller coaster! Ā

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

Gassada In reply to YenYui-AJ [2014-05-16 08:10:52 +0000 UTC]

Wasn't it said that Marvel had planned out their movies till 2024 or something? Well, I am a bit apprehensive about what they will do to Steve once Chris Evans' contract is up. Whenever someone says Civil War or the death of Steve Rogers, I am tempted to put my hands over my ears and sing lalalalalalalalalala really loudly.
In that regard, it is good to be an artist, if I don't like what I see, I'll cry a bit and then make up my alternative world... as with Snowpiercer.

Oh, I'd love to see it - no reason to be anxious! Ā

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

YenYui-AJ In reply to Gassada [2014-05-25 17:14:23 +0000 UTC]

-tapes your hands behind your back and talk about the civil war and the death of Steve Rogers XD -
That's one of the many perks in becoming an artist, you can visually see your alternative world, it's the next best thing if you can't live in it.
You capture the moment perfectly! The atmosphere and ambiance can be felt. A whole universe lives inside your drawings. Ā

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

Gassada In reply to YenYui-AJ [2014-05-28 17:03:32 +0000 UTC]

No one is taping any hands and talking about anything!
But yes, being able to make up my own stories is nice. I wish I was a bit more of a writer. I need people to write alternative endings for me, I'd even illustrate them.
And thank you so much, I do try my best to make my ideas come to life in the pics

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

YenYui-AJ In reply to Gassada [2014-05-31 15:39:07 +0000 UTC]

-puts away the tape-
The mind if a wonderful place to create your own fantasies and stories. It's nice that you'd illustrate other people's alternative endings if the chance presents itself, it shows how appreciative you are. I used to write when I was in high school, for competitions and the likes (occasionally bringing home the bacon). I would gladly write for you some day if you'd like.

(I keep most of my stuff offline since my computer is a bit of a mess, constantly crashing and I can never get any work done. It constantly gets the "bollocks" and "you piece of trash" speech from me.)

If you made it this far, here'sĀ  the drawing I mentioned earlier on paper. Now, if only i can fix the inking on my computer. Ā

Hi hun, I hope you could fix the problems with your computer. I only doodle offline, I hardly ever really paint offline anymore. I painted an oil portrait of my parents for Christmas last year. That was the last time. It's all moved to the digital drawings.
Anyway, I am sorry for the long break. Hope you're well.

Ā

Don't worry about it, I managed to fix it as a matter of fact. The oil portrait must be superb, it can't get any more christmas-y than that. Your parents are very lucky. All digital you say? Very interesting, very interesting indeed. Offline or not, your paintings are, and always will be, wonderful!

Welcome back, dear!

Yes, I went under for a bit, just here to thank people for comments. I am trying to finish up my dissertation and had to look for a new job in the past months. There was not much room for painting.
Glad you could fix the computer problems! It must be such a bother. I know I always get super pissy and angsty when something happens to mine. Painting mostly digital yes, but I have a big 'offline' crafts supply and we do a traditional christmas card crafting night every year and so forth.

Thank you for the kind words, dear! Ā

Ohh! A dissertation, are you planning on becoming a doctor? I know there are other reasons to do a dissertation but I can't think of them, as of the current moment (darn brain). I'm also working on a thesis, I can almost feel your pain.
I wish you luck on the job hunting, I'm sure you'll find one soon!

It seems that we're the opposite, I'm taking a break from the digital world and I'm doing most of my work traditionally.
Crafting is a nice way to bring out the holiday joy for the family, may your tradition be strong for the years to come.

Gassada In reply to YenYui-AJ [2014-10-04 09:25:13 +0000 UTC]

Haha, yes, I am planning on becoming a doctor - not a medical one, but research related (psychology). I am not sure I would have done it, if I knew what it entails. ... Well, yes, I would have done it anyway, I love research. Though a friend from a different field recently said, and I think this description fits, working in research is like being in an abusive relationship.
I got a new job though, starting next year, till then I hope I can finish everything up.

It's great that you move back to traditional work, I sometimes think i should, but then it's so much easier, open laptop, plug in tablet, draw, shut everything down. And deleting mistakes if you made them. I am not Bob Ross, mistakes are not happy, they bother me
I never craft with family - they all have two left hands and want nothing to do with it. But all my colleagues sit down for crafting - like a bunch of academics yelling where's the glue, I need more glitter, does my snowman look creepy. It's hilarious!

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

YenYui-AJ In reply to Gassada [2014-10-24 11:27:12 +0000 UTC]

Well, your friend is correct, it is an abusive relationship. But hey, we love it. Congratulations on the new job, you'll do splendidly! I know you can make it through.

Bob Ross laughs at the face of 'ctrl + z' the Chuck Norris when it comes to traditional work. Aww, your colleagues are amazing for doing that, I laughed at the line "I need more glitter--" haha! Thanks for making my day. Drawing has never been a hobby for my acquaintance, so I'm practically the only one that draws, they're great and all but they can get abusive at times when it comes to commissions.
A few days ago, I was looking at some programs for digital art and came across one named "Manga Art Studios" I'm not in dire need of a tablet, so it was nice to find a program that goes well with a mouse. The outputs were amazing and I managed to work on some commissions.

(I'm terribly sorry for the late reply. It was finals week and gosh, I had to read a lot of gobbledy-gook to prepare for hell.)

Gassada In reply to Vasun5 [2014-04-21 05:59:36 +0000 UTC]

Thank you very much!
I figured Clint und Natasha would want to be a bit removed from the scene and watch everything. And yes, Bruce is dancing with Betty. I like both actresses in the last movies and I didn't want to pick one, so I hid her face
Cap can definitely get a girl (or a guy if he so wanted). I mean they would probably fall over themselves to be with him - which doesn't make it any easier. And I think the fandom has a lot of suggestions, too

This is GORGEOUS. Gassada...you take my breath away with your work, every single time!

That being said, I adore your attention to detail. The reflection on the glass, the faces, the beautiful clothes...everything is just perfect. But for poor Steve. *pets and hugs him* No frowns, darling! You're gonna make me cry! I am, at heart, a Stony shipper, but any of those people would be lovely for our dear Captain. (Story fits wonderfully well, in that vein!) Seeing Winter Soldier last Friday only solidified that thinking, but I digress. I just...adore this, and I am just going to sit here, stare at your work for a while, and fangirl like an idiot~

I am with you there, I figured this evening would end with every single one of the Avengers walking up to him and asking him to dance, including Pep and Betty, and Darcy - who is there, she is hidden, I couldn't fit her in, but she is painted. I am a Stony shipper, too, but I also like Steve and Natasha together, and Steve and Bucky and ... yes, as you say, any of these people.

I agree with you there, actually.
Though I doubt it would be less hurtful for Steve, or Bucky really, to pick up all those shattered pieces than being there alone. Poor guys.

Yuzuki-nee-chan In reply to Gassada [2014-04-11 01:18:30 +0000 UTC]

It's going to be absurdly painful, but they're the only ones who can help each other out. Steve is the catalyst for Bucky's newfound will power and sense of identity, and Steve finds in Bucky the comfort and familiarity he could never find anywhere else.

(if Cap 3 doesn't end with long, tender hugs, forehead touches and make-outs I will demand my money back)

Gassada In reply to Yuzuki-nee-chan [2014-04-13 19:06:51 +0000 UTC]

I was sitting in Cap2 saying "Now kiss" everytime they faced off ... I think the guy next to me didn't appreciate that
But yes, only they can do it for each other. And it HAS to be in the next movie. I would be so disappointed if they just brushed over it. I won't, I have great things planned for the two of them. It will take some time though.

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

Yuzuki-nee-chan In reply to Gassada [2014-04-13 23:03:16 +0000 UTC]

Initially, I didn't like the movie as much as I thought I would? Mostly because I wanted them to settle their differences and hug it out, but then I realized it would be too much to cover in a single movie. Admittedly, the Winter Soldier could've been a more prominent figure, but Sebastian Stan KILLED the little screentime he had, and he deserves 500 Oscars.

In Cap 3, they're gonna fight back-to-back against whatever baddie that shows up (I'm betting it's Rumlow) and they'll finally have a genuine reunion, complete with headbutts of love and manly tears.

AND I REALLY WANT TO SEE WHAT YOU HAVE PLANNED FOR THE TWO OF THEM DDD

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

Gassada In reply to Yuzuki-nee-chan [2014-04-15 12:27:49 +0000 UTC]

Haha, I loved the movie about twice as much as I thought I would, which was a lot, I had such high expectations. And I did expect them to end it the way they did, Steve and Bucky parting ways and leaving us to worry about the next part
And I have to agree, Sebastian Stan knocked the performance out of the park. He was soooo good.

Cap3, manly tears, man hugs, lots of Stevie and Bucky hurts, but I am so looking forward to it.

Oh god, now I put pressure on myself. You'll see, might take a bit of time, but you'll see.
