Maria Stark Foundations Valentine's Charity Event
SHIELD requests the Avengers to do public appearances, and whenever Tony lets something explode or the Hulk smashes one too many things, they don't request anymore. They order. A request he could have refused. An order he cannot. And he would have done anything really, put back on his old stage uniform, jump of the Empire State. Anything but this.
On paper, it's been decades since he has seen them last. To him, it has been only a few months. But either way, he was too late. He doesn't want to be here.
Finally, most of the Avengers in one picture. And then Captain America had to go and be sad. Sorry, I had to do this. I just want to give Steve a hug. This was actually my interpretation of Valentine's Day, but life is so horribly busy at the moment.
Painted in Photoshop, Bamboo Tablet, approx. 45 hours.

Awww, sorry! I know, poor Steve. But I figured this night would end with one Avenger after the other walking up to him and asking him to dance. Including Pep and Jane.

Incredibly clever and moving work, you nailed all the likenesses and the use of multiple mirrors in the piece must have been really tricky to plan out.

Actually, the perspective is probably quite faulty. I didn't do much planning at all, I just wanted to have both Steve's and Tony's face in the picture. And I have to say, everyone else looks basically like themselves when mirrored, but RDJ looks so different. So I mirror-mirrored him. That's really it

Wow! This is absolutely gorgeous! The level of detail is astounding. They are all so expressive. Steve's face breaks my heart...So sad!

And if you don't, what are your thoughts of it being posted there, of course with a link to DA and full credits to you. I've seen it done before with other artists, but sometimes without their consent, and I wouldn't like to offend you if you are not comfortable with that.

Awww, thank you so much! I am happy you like it, it sat in my system for a while and needed to get out. I like Steve very much, he's my favorite character to be honest, and my heart goes out to him when he's confronted with things he lost or doesn't understand.
I don't have a Tumblr account - I barely keep up with managing this one. I probably counldn't do a day job if I had more than one thing to concentrate on.

But I'm totally in Love with Jane and the way Thor sweeps her up and she almost looses her shoe. Her face is pure gold.
And Tonys face where it seems like he's watching poor Steve is really intriguing.

Thank you so much, I am happy you like it. I think Jane and Thor are my favorite thing in this picture. And the terror twins needed to be in there but I figured they'd rather be removed from the scene. And now they can make bets how many balloon hearts they can kill.
And Tony is watching Steve very keenly because I think he can deal with fixing broken things but hurt people, ehhh. Though he would want to.

Yes, the mirror is a bit selfish. I wanted Tony AND Steve face-front in the picture and I couldn't make myself turn one of them around. So I had to improvise 
Natalie Portman's face is actually Jane's face from the first Thor - when they are at the hospital asking for him. "She hit him with a car."

LOL, Jane's neutral face is usually surprised by something. XD I love her for being so amazingly normal and yet in aw of everything all the time. I love Sif and Thor canonically, but I love Jane so much I can't hate her. XD Amazing work BTW!

I really like Jane as well, though I can see the Thor/Sif appeal (well, to be honest, I don't like that they make her pine for him so much in the movies, she is so much more than that). But I am more of a Thor/Jane girl

Natalie is a fab actress. I can't hate her. It's just something I can never do. Her as Jane just makes her more to me. If they'd cast her as a throwaway actress I'd have been very disappointed.

Absolutely. They aren't just grabbing famous people. They are grabbing quality actors and actresses. They have quality and appeal on their side. I think that is why they are doing so well in the movies. I think this is where DC needs to take note. They have good ideas, but their casting choices in some departments and the screen writing leaves a bit to be desires. I hope the new Superman/Batman/Wonder Woman movie breaks this trend.
There is a reason Christopher Reeve is synonymous with Superman. He was a fine actor and a wonderful person. Totally the RDJ of the DC movie-verse.

Strangely enough, I have never really cared for the newer DC movies. I mean, I watched Batman because everyone did. And it's not like I say 'Marvel and everything else can go home'. I tried watching, I found it not that engaging. But maybe it is exactly as you said, the casting choices could have been the reason for me not to feel as drawn towards the characters or care for them. And they'll have to have luck on their side to find someone like Reeve. He is synonymous! Absolutely! And luckily for Marvel, they got RDJ. Though I would also find it hard to picture other persons play the other Avengers by now.
