Maria Stark Foundations Valentine's Charity Event
SHIELD requests the Avengers to do public appearances, and whenever Tony lets something explode or the Hulk smashes one too many things, they don't request anymore. They order. A request he could have refused. An order he cannot. And he would have done anything really, put back on his old stage uniform, jump of the Empire State. Anything but this.
On paper, it's been decades since he has seen them last. To him, it has been only a few months. But either way, he was too late. He doesn't want to be here.
Finally, most of the Avengers in one picture. And then Captain America had to go and be sad. Sorry, I had to do this. I just want to give Steve a hug. This was actually my interpretation of Valentine's Day, but life is so horribly busy at the moment.
Painted in Photoshop, Bamboo Tablet, approx. 45 hours.

All the Avengers are with their girlfriends (Tony and Pepper, Thor and Jane, Bruce and Betty, or in Clint and Natasha's case each other) but Steve's all alone. Poor Steve, he's probably thinking about Peggy, I bet he really misses her.

I think he does miss her. And maybe also the 'idea of her', if you know what I mean. The usual could-haves, would-haves, and so forth. But I thought this night would progress with all Avengers walking up to him and teaching him to dance their dances.

Steve's story is actually rather sad, loosing his life-long best friend, being thrown into a future where he doesn't belong and everything is strange and frightening and in the process also loosing the only woman he ever had feelings for. Then Captain America 2, that was heart-wrenching, what they did to poor Bucky. It would be nice if the other Avengers included him, he needs to feel accepted.

If only it was possible for SHIELD to invent a time travel portal for Steve to use so he could go back home to the past-after the war that is or perhaps Doctor Strange could use his magic to warp him home

And I figured Nat and Clint would appreciate being able to see everything. I am sure they started a challenge who can break the most hearts (balloons)

Aww! i'm gonna need Darcy to get on that, stat. <3 This is great. I loved searching the crowds to find everybody, and I loved Steve's woobie!face. One question though (and please excuse my ignorance, I'm new at this art thing): why, if Steve is leaning up against a mirror, is there another mirror randomly behind Tony and Pepper? It looks like they're gonna run into it. (again, just wondering if that was a deliberate choice, and if so, why, because I'm nosy and curious!)

Mh, the placement of the mirror behind Pep and Tony is a bit weird, I know - it is supposed to be an open winged door with mirrors. The reason is random - I wanted both Tony's and Steve's face in the picture. So I had Steeeeebe, and then the mirror behind him. And really everybody looks great when mirrored with the exception of Robert Downey Jr. who doesn't even look like himself. So I needed the other mirror to turn him around again. Well, yeah.
I also considered putting Steve outside on the balcony and a window instead of a mirror behind him. But that would have meant to change all the lighting again. Yeaaaah, no.
But I am happy you like it!

I figured Clint and Nat would want to be a bit removed from the scene, and Jane was my favorite thing to paint for this picture. I think I can identify with her the most of all of them. There was actually a server being pushed aside by Thor and stumbling and dropping champagne glasses, but he had to make room for Tony and Pep.
Maria, huh? She probably is around somewhere. There are a lot of suggestions for dance partners, she was strangely not on my radar.

That is pretty much a new one. I think I have heard Peggy, Tony, Sam and Bucky most often. And Darcy ... I don't know how that came to be though.
I don't know Sharon from the comics, honestly, and I did not much like her in the movie. But whoever you like

ahhh what an amazing work, i love this so much! especially the expressions, steve is obviously so well done but bruce has also caught my eye especially, i think you really captured everyone's character in astounding way

i've been saying that for the longest time, ruffalo was the best possible casting for bruce, i think he brings something vulnerable to the role which norton (or bana) didn't quite manage and i feel like you brought that into this picture and it works really well

Thank you! I did it basically because I wanted both Steve's and Tony's face in the picture and RDJ's reflection looks a teeny bit weird (strangely enough, the others' don't), so he had to be mirror-mirrored.
