Description

Oops, I made another babe and she’s an art kid.

Her hair was originally going to be black, but then I remembered that the character she’s based off of is blonde, so… oops. Besides, I think she looks much better as a blonde.

Also, it was pretty difficult not to make her a deceptive a**hole you have no idea--

Anyway, here's Emiline!

~~~
Update 7/11/17 - Emiline has graduated year one! She's now a silver pin owo/
Update 7/27/17 - And now she's gotten herself updated artwork! Now to do Seth >w>
Update 1/21/18 - Another revamp it seems. Changed up her background to make more sense, and changed her uniform. I also made her a little younger if that's at all allowed--
"Experience is merely the name men gave to their mistakes."
Name: Emiline(Em-ill-een) Gray
Fairy Tale Classic Literature Character: Dorian Gray(The Picture of Dorian Gray)
Age: “Didn’t anyone tell you it’s rude to ask a woman that?”(physically 14)(Actually around 16 or 17)
Gender: Female
Species: Halfling; a person born of one faery parent and one human parent. In this case, her mother’s a faery and her father’s a human.
Height: 5’2”(About 157 cm)
Weight: 100 lbs(about 45 kg)
Birthday: October 16(Libra)
Personality:
Optimistic
Despite events in her past, Emiline has always tried to keep a smile on her face. She’s definitely the “glass half full” kind of girl. Of course, she does know how to be realistic, but most of the time she tries to stay positive.
Sweet
Generally, if she likes a person, she’s actually pretty nice. The one thing she likes to do is make people happy, whether that be by complimenting them to brighten their day or helping them with homework. She just likes making people feel better about themselves.
Obedient
When asked to do something by a higher up, Emiline will do it without question. She knows how to follow orders and get something done lickety split. But it’s never to the point that she becomes a pushover. Even she knows when to say no. And due to being well behaved, it’d probably traumatize her if she were to end up in detention.
Social
Due to being home-schooled for a little over a year, she’s had few friends in recent years. Despite this, she is a very social person, and one for conversation. So you can guarantee she’ll try to make a few friends before the year ends.
Patient
Emiline can be surprisingly patient with people. She was always taught that no matter how a person may seem, there’s always someone good inside. Since she’s probably gonna try to make friends with everyone, this does come in handy. It doesn’t matter if someone’s shy, rude, or just a straight up b****; she will have the patience to befriend them.
Persistent
Due to being secluded for a big portion of her life, Emiline doesn't know how to tell if someone is truly a good friend or not. This results in her being rather persistent with people, even resorting to bearing people's insults and such just to see if they're all that bad.
Self Conscious
Most people don’t notice this trait right off the bat since she hides it very well. Emiline cares a lot for her appearance. Almost too much if you ask me. I mean, she isn’t the kind of girl that spends $250 during one trip to Sephora, but its still pretty bad.
Self Loathing
Emiline doesn’t exactly hate herself, but she’d not exactly happy with what she’s done in the past. She’s sad that she might never be able to grow old with someone, and might even see her own children die before she does. She believes her past narcissism is to blame for the state she’s trapped in, and secretly hates herself for this.
Deceptive
Though Emiline seems to have nothing to hide, its quite the opposite. She has secrets, like everyone else in the world, but hers are a bit more, what’s the word… strange. Most of her more unappealing qualities and bad attitudes are preserved on the very thing she carries in that fabric sheet at her side. She hides it so none of her friends, upperclassmen, or even the teachers can see the horrendous figure she keeps locked away from view. What is it exactly? You may to figure that out for yourself…
Background/Biography:
It all started with Henry Gray, an aristocrat who met a young woman somewhere in London. Her name was Sybil; Sybil Vane. She was a beautiful young lady and a kind-hearted person. Either one of these could be the reason Henry fell so in love with her. The two of them decided to tie the knot shortly after their first encounter, and Sybil moved into the Gray Manor, set atop a hill somewhere in London.
Emiline was never told about who her mother was. Or even what happened to her. Emiline just had to accept the fact that she would grow up without a mother figured. Instead, she was raised by her father and the servants that worked around the manor. Much like every other aristocrat, Emiline had everything she could ask for. And she was happy with what she had. It seemed Emiline already had an idea in mind, however, for what she wished to do in life. Ever since she was 3, it wasn’t uncommon for servants to find things drawn on the walls with charcoal from her father’s desk.
It eventually got to the point that, when she was 8, Henry asked why Emiline was doing such a thing. She said it was because she wanted to be an artist when she grew up. It was such a sweet and innocent wish. Instead of punishing her, he instead asked her to help scrub the charcoal off the walls that day. After she was sent to bed that night, he hired an art tutor for the girl.
This woman he’d hired, who Emiline referred to simply as Mrs. Hallward, taught her on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. She was a very nice young lady who was very skilled in her craft. Her specialties were oils, acrylics, and(more specifically) portraits. Some of Emiline’s first lessons weren’t with paint, however, but with a pencil and paper. They mostly involved figure drawing and simple sketches of still lifes. And once she upgraded to acrylics and brushes, she advanced in her skills with painting. Classes went on like normal. But it was the day when her private teacher had asked her to paint a self portrait that changed her life.
Emiline was 14 at the time, and was approaching her 6th year as Mrs. Hallward’s student. Her teacher commented upon how beautiful she’d made the picture look, and suggested she show it to her father. After her teacher had packed up their paints and brushes and left, Emiline did as her teacher suggested and showed it to her father. He said almost the same thing: that it was very beautiful. But moments after the compliment fell upon her ears, a thought crossed Emiline’s mind. She made it clear when she asked, “Will I stay beautiful forever, father?”
It was a difficult thing for Henry to answer. How does one explain to their daughter such a thing?
He said that sadly, she would not, but would still be beautiful in the eyes of others for generations to come. This, however, still did not please her. As she was hanging the now framed painting on the wall of her room, she openly said that the painting would stay the way it was. Why couldn’t the painting age, and she stay young forever? The  moment she said those words, her wish had been granted. Emiline never gave it another thought. But then something happened. One day at school, Emiline had called one of her close friends, a not-so-nice individual, shallow and stupid, simply out of blind rage. When she came home, she noticed an alteration in the portrait. The face used to just smile kindly at the viewer, but now it wore a sneer of cruelty.
Emiline brushed it off. It was… probably nothing… right? A week later, Emiline was pressured into smoking a cigar off of one of the teacher’s desks, quickly coughing up the smoke and putting it back. She never touched a cigarette again, but the same couldn’t be said for the figure in the portrait, now holding a cigar. There was a pattern going on. Ever since then, Emiline hid the portrait behind a pall she’d found in her father’s study, but the secret became too much for her to bare. She had to tell someone! And so, her father was the first to find out about her secret. She said she didn’t know what was going on, and swore she had nothing to do with it. And then, her father realized something. Along with the ugly sneer and the cigar in its hand, the figure looked… older in a way. It appeared to look in its early 30’s at least. That’s when he remembered the question his daughter had asked him, when she showed him the portrait.
Henry pulled Emiline from public school the following day.
Emiline’s friends she had in public school never got an explanation; just that she needed to be homeschooled from now on. Emiline was still able to keep in touch with her friends through letters, but she was given the rest of her Middle School education from the comfort of their home. Her father, since having the money for it, had hired a few teachers for her to teach her the arts, like every other aristocrat. She was taught piano, a few other languages, and other such things, along with academic subjects like math and science. But after a while, after noticing how lonely his daughter seemed, he realized he couldn’t continue doing this to her.
She couldn’t live a happy life trapped in the manor and being homeschooled. Yes, she did still speak to her friends through letters, but what good was that if you could never see them in person? But Henry didn’t want to send her to school until he could figure out how to reverse what the painting caused. And then after a year of homeschooling, before Emiline was to enter her freshman year of high school, she received a letter sealed with red wax. It was for a high school, meant for magic-users and non-humans. She asked her father why on earth she’d receive a letter for a school like that, saying she was neither a magic-user or a non-human. It was then that her father told her the truth about her mother.
He’d revealed that, once Sybil became pregnant with her, she told her father that she was a faery. Only the mother or the child could survive the ordeal. And so Emiline’s mother only got to hold her daughter for a minute before she gave her life for the child to live. This meant, of course, that Emiline had magic herself. Her father insisted that going to a school like this would allow her to make friends with other children like her, and even learn how to harness the magic she’d inherited from her mother. But Emiline saw this as an opportunity for something else:
An opportunity to find out how to reverse what the painting had caused.
Orientation: Demisexual/Panromantic
Relationship Status: Single
Magic Type:
The Portrait
When Emiline was only 14, she accidentally used faery magic to trap part of her soul inside her portrait, making it so the portrait ages instead of her. On top of this, whenever she performs a bad act, it adds another few years onto the age of the figure in the painting. Because of the bad acts Emiline’s committed after the portrait was finished, the painting itself now portrays Emiline in her late 40’s. Along with that, it may also portray her bad acts as physical defects on the figure. For example, if she starts smoking, the portrait will portray her with a cigarette in hand. Or if she were to kill someone, the figure in the painting would appear spattered with blood. The worst part is that it’s all irreversible. Once another thing is added the painting, there’s no way to reverse it. In fact, even if she tried to reverse it with good acts, it might even turn out worse. There’s only one way to return the painting to its original state, and that would be for Emiline to die.
But not only does her painting age for her, but it also takes damage for her. If one were to try to cut Emiline, say, across the face, no cut would show up on her face. Instead, a cut would show up on the painting’s face instead and heal over the course of a few days like a wound on a regular human being. The only way to hurt Emiline would be to harm the portrait. If one was to try and slice open the painting’s face, no slash will appear on the painting. Instead, a cut will appear on Emiline’s face, which of course will heal like a regular wound on a human being. This trait of the spell proves very dangerous because of how easy it would be to kill her. If someone were to drive a knife or sharp object through the throat or the torso of the painting, it would mean certain death for Emiline.
Faery magic
Halflings usually inherit some degree of faery magic. It usually starts to show itself through one’s hobbies, and because of Emiline’s love of art and painting, her abilities are mostly centered around painting and other such things. What exactly she does with the magic can vary from changing the color of paint that’s already dried(and even other things) to cleaning a canvas with a snap of her fingers. But as stated before, most of her faery abilities only apply to art related things(which doesn’t really come in handy in a fight). The rest of her faery magic is applied to general magic.
Body Type: Emiline is very beautiful for her age. She has a pale complexion with not a single freckle or blemish in sight. She’s very thin with a vague hourglass figure, and her legs are spindly and long. She’s double jointed in both wrists, able to bend them so far you’ll think they’re broken( example). The left side of her face started taking on the appearance of Portrait's face(from the running black mascara around her eye to her skin taking on the texture of peeling acrylic paint) just a few weeks before attending the school. She believes it’s a side effect of the cursed painting, and easily hides it by wearing her hair over the left side of her face. But if someone does see/point out that half of her face is chipping, she won’t bother to deny it. She does prefer to hide it in public, though, especially around strangers(or crushes//slapped).
Clothing: Mostly shorts and t-shirts, with some influence from old Victorian fashion. The fabric case she has contains her portrait, and has an adjustable strap. She’ll always be seen with it, either over her shoulder or in her hands. No exceptions.
Voice: Adriana Figueroa( x x x)
Emiline’s voice is soft and sweet, almost as if you gave a music box the ability to speak. She can also sing pretty well. She has a habit of using vibrato while singing, which becomes obvious if she holds out a note for a long time. She has an English accent that can only be heard while she’s speaking, since it doesn’t come up while singing.
Extras:
  • She dyes her hair with kool aid a lot(as seen by her multicolored bangs), even to the point that it’s impossible to wash it all out. To add on to this, a lot of people like to call her a “parrot” because of the way her hair looks.
  • Because of how much she cares for her looks, she’s grown quite skilled with styling hair and doing makeup. Need to touch up a bit before a school dance? Emiline’s your girl.
  • She took the portrait with her to Ever After High, worried that someone might try to use it to kill her while she was away. She can usually be seen carrying it around during the day and tucking it away under her bed at night. She’s never seen without it close by.
  • She gets annoyed when people ask to see the painting. There’s a reason she hides it, isn’t there? Only if she really, really trusts you will she show it to you. And even then, she won’t tell you exactly what it is.
  • Even though she enjoys acting, she doesn’t, uh… enjoy acting(?). What I’m trying to say is that even though she likes it, something about doing it makes her a bit uncomfortable (props to you if you can figure out why).
  • She uses a lot of Victorian era slang, and because of how ridiculous it sounds, she often has to explain to other people wtf she’s saying.
  • Emiline had been taught to play piano by one of her private teachers, but she’s not exactly a master at it yet. She’ll play for you if you ask nicely, though.
  • Can’t cook to save her life, but can bake like a pro.
  • She loves the movie Anastasia(the Don Bluth one). Like, no joke, if you like the movie too you’re automatically her friend.
  • Emiline loves animals. She’s always wanted a pet, but never could get one back home because her father was allergic to pet dander. She’ll probably end up adopting something while she’s staying at the school, though.
  • While being homeschooled, she was taught to speak three other languages besides english(French, Spanish, and Sign Language). She’s nowhere near fluent in any of them, though.
  • Emiline tries her best not to swear. The most she’ll say is “hell”, but she’ll stop herself from saying other things. She’ll even make up words and phrases to say instead(it can be quite hilarious depending on what she says).
  • Since she is half faery, Emiline does have the potential to earn herself a pair of wings. Halflings, however, don’t get their wings until they share a kiss with their soul mate.
  • Emiline can’t stand the smell of mint. She’s never known why, but it gives her a headache whenever she smells it.
  • The satchel she carries around with her has nothing but art supplies in it(pens, pencils, erasers, paint, paint brushes, etc.), along with a handheld mirror she keeps at all times. Touch the bag and you die.
  • She’s left handed.
  • She often uses the back of her right hand as a pallette. She mixes paint there, and she’s almost always seen with some kind of mess still remaining on the back of her hand.
