Description
On the trip home, Arthur began to have self doubts. Perhaps he was wrong to question the beliefs of the Divinity Party. There were millions of Americans that didn't have a problem with believing in a god, why did Arthur? Arthur slipped into a state where he thought himself mad for not subscribing something that seemed so basic to everyone else. Was he missing something? Had something truly elementary and simple slipped by him? Or was it that the world never stopped to think about the subject very much? Arthur felt himself to be an exceedingly small minority. If he didn't accept the idea of God, what else might he not accept? Could Arthur really call himself moral? As Arthur troubled himself with these thoughts, he saw a pair of parked cars along the road. One of them had its emergency blinkers on, the other was a slick black cruiser with no markings. It didn't even have license plates, government or otherwise.
For whatever reason, Arthur decided to pull over to see if the occupants needed help. Upon realizing that both vehicles were abandoned he set out to find the drivers.
As it turned out, one of the drivers found him. He was out of breath, and covered in blood. He made every effort to give Arthur a strange orb, "Take it! Keep it away from them!" the man said while gasping for breath.
"Keep it from who!?" Arthur replied. However, it was too late, the man fell to the ground and lay motionless. Arthur was so fixated on the body of the unknown man that he didn't notice the pair of agents coming around the corner.
