History:

Long before the monstrosity known as The Bear was even born, it's parents began life as normal bears commonly found in the wilderness of the Soviet Union. After both bears where exposed to Nebranium waste haphazardly dumped by the Soviets into the wilderness from the nearby Phosphora plant. After several months of sustained exposure, both bears where both displaying physical signs of mutation such as drooping flesh, tumors, and irregular bone growth. The male would end up dying from exposure, but the pregnant female would linger on for longer.

Eventually however, she too would begin to feel the devastating, mutagenic effects on her body as well as her unborn cub, who was enormous in size. Days went by and her unborn offspring weighed her down more and more, her strength waning from not having been able to hunt for weeks. Finally, her body could go no further and she too expired. However her offspring refused to share her fate. With it's claws it cut and slashed it's way out of it's dead mother's body; this abomination of an infant being nearly half the mother's size at birth.

Covered in amniotic fluid and it's mother's own blood, the horrific spawn let out a whimpering howl at the snowy night sky as it dragged it's warped body through the snow and into the shelter of a nearby cave. For the next few months, the rapidly growing cub fed on the frozen corpse of it's mother and any other animal it could catch. Soon it would taste human flesh when it ambushed and killed a band of hunters hunting elk and deer in the snowy forests.

This was not enough, and so it tracked the hunter's scents back to their small village on the outskirts of Dzerzhinsk; none survived to tell the tale. As more and more people began to rapidly disappear in the area around Dzerzhinsk, rumors spread of a violent serial killer stalking the forests and killing anyone they came across. These rumors where quickly dispelled when enormous paw-prints where discovered along the road to the Phosphora plant. Curiously since the killings started, the Soviet military began to have an increasing presence in the area, as if they suspected that this was not just some killer, or even a human being.

In truth, the Soviets were well aware of at least one other mutant, named the "Cavernook" by soldiers after a demon from old fairytales that would steal disobedient children at night. This mutant took the form of a colossal bat that the Soviets suspected came from a cave that was a known dumping site for Nebranium waste. It didn't take long for them to catch wind of another possible mutation loose near Dzerzhinsk. Both these creatures would reveal themselves one night when the bear attempted to attack the town of Dzerzhinsk itself after being provoked by the bright lights.

Swooping down from the skies, the Cavernook made it's presence known and attacked the bear with it's sharp talons. Stunned and perplexed by this new attacker, the bear rose up on it's hind legs and bellowed aloud to try and intimidate it's new adversary. The Cavernook, however, was unfazed and lunged at it's prey. The enormous bat evaded a swing from the bear and managed to land on the mutant bear's back before sinking it's jagged fangs into the mammal's neck. The bear howled as the vampiric flyer lapped up the delicious life juices of the bear all while infecting it with a mutated, hemorrhagic rabies.

With a swipe of it's claws, the bear managed to tear off one of the bat's ears and badly scar it's face, forcing the bat to disengage and fly away. Itself wounded and unknowingly infected by a plague, the bear retreated into the snowy forests. Two days went by as the Soviet military tried to track down the monsters, including a third which had been causing tremors near the Phosphora plant. This search would come to an end when both monsters where coaxed from their lairs by heavy ordinance from the Soviets. The bear, now extremely aggressive and in a berserk state due to the rabies ravaging it's brain, set it's sights on the Phosphora plant.

The Cavernook stalked it's prey from the skies until the beast's once again clashed in the Phosphora plant. The monsters tore into one another in a gruesome and violent display of savagery. The bear began to weaken however, as it began to hemorrhage from it's nose, ears and eyes due to the plague the Cavernook had infected it with. However the ground began to tremble, and a third monster joined the fray: an enormous, mutated centipede which had been causing the tremors near the plant.

This three way brawl became even more destructive with the centipede's ability to spray digestive acid from it's mandibles. The clash of these titans was causing catastrophic damage to the Phosphora plant and radiation was leaking from the core. Ultimately the decision was made to kill all three monsters with a nuclear warhead; destroying them as well as the Phosphora plant and the town of Dzerzhinsk.

The bright flash of light of imminent destruction failed to grab the beast's attention as all three where bathed in nuclear fire. Flesh caught fire and boiled, muscle and sinew were flayed from bone yet even in their death throes they still attempted to kill one another. Once the light faded, nothing remained. All three mutants had been utterly vanquished while still locked in combat.

With the monsters gone as well as the entire town of Dzerzhinsk, the Soviets conveniently covered the entire event up as a catastrophic meltdown at the Phosphora plant caused by human error. However the Soviets knew the truth, and their spies in the US had briefed the Kremlin on the events that transpired in Oak Falls. These where no mere freak accidents; this was the beginning of something terrible...

Why are bears always getting the short end of the stick in horror (Not as much as Dogs though). First there was Katahdin in 'Prophecy', then there was that poor mutant bear in 'Anhilliation' and now this.In all seriousness I quite love this design, and like the other monsters in this series, I can't help but pity this poor bastard, born into the world all messed up. I get the sense sympathy for these monsters is going to be the main theme though.ย

I will say I do feel the usage of a nuclear missile was a bit...overkill, given that these monsters don't seem to be immune to conventional weapons like most Kaiju. I mean, Sandy was killed by a bunch of explosives and a rockslide and I'm assuming she was in a similar league to these guys.ย But other than that I quite enjoyed the bio.ย

I do wonder, will we get to see that centipede?.ย

Somehow when I made that comment....I had forgotten about how badly the rabies spread....not sure how that happened XD. In which case the nuke makes a fuck-ton more sense XD.

That's good to hear, I'm quite interested in seeing what it will look like.ย
