Description
As I promised to some of the people here, I'm releasing the first tutorial here. This is the tutorial for how to do soft cell shading on Photoshop, based on my experience.
The version of Photoshop used in the tutorial is 6. If you use later versions, names of tools/modes and/or allocation of shortcut keys might be different.
I'm working on Windows, so if you use Mac please change these notations as: Ctrl to Command, Alt to Option.
I just hope it helps you.

This is an amazing tutorial.
I have one question about grouping layers, because I'm using GIMP and CTRL+G opens up the gradients menu. Is there an alternative way to do this from the dropdown menus?

Wait, on the shading/blurring part, how do you know which part to hard blend/soft blend (like the blue/red part you should blur).

Your sense on how light works and how it would work on such object said/meant, and of crouse... where the light scource is. Maybe draw a sun and put lines shooting out to sho where your highlights and shadeing should be located. Hope this helps~

Hey, I'm like a total photoshop noob, but i'm having two problems. Wondering if someone can help me out. After scanning my hand drawn images and opening them into photoshop, I can't seem to able to select any colour at all. I think it's 'cause my scanned images are being recognised as Black and White Imports, and can't seem to change these settings on my scanner. I'm hoping that if i draw the line art and save it and re open it separately, i wont have a problem. Which brings me to my next question, When the tutorial says to draw the lineart, with what tool shall I do this with?
Any help would me much apreciated, thank you.

to change to RGB:
image > mode > RGB
that should solve the first problem. can't really help with the second :/

Very wonderful tutorial, I like the progression that you followed. It was a bit fast paced towards the end, but I can understand why. I'm glad to have read it though, thanks for the contribution!
