Description
The actual name of the maneuver is "Molto Crescendo Fortissimo" but "Walruslock" is easier to say.Sforzando goes up against ~HoundGrey 's Hound. This one is looking like it could turn into quite the rivalry.
Watercolour, ink, casein on Twinrocker 200 lb. CP watercolour paper.
-EDIT- Renamed. Remind me not to name my deviations at 5:00 in the morning.

Ok, I got some critiquing here that you can keep in mind for next time.
Firstly, the figure drawing and painting are something you can be proud of, you did a really good job.
What I think needs work is perspective. I was looking at this for about 5 minutes, wondering how this was a hold. It looks like both characters are lying on the mat, and there's nothing stopping the one being pinned from escaping. Once I saw the reference photo you linked to in your journal, I realised what you were going for, and more importantly, I know why you didn't quite pull it off.
There are two aspects of this picture, both related to perspective, that take away from what you were trying to show.
Firstly, the perspective of the ring itself is off. As you've drawn it, the POV is a lot higher than it is in the reference photo. This is causing your characters to appear flat on the mat, as opposed to rising off of the mat. That's pretty straight forward.
The second one, a bit harder to spot, is how you've drawn the lower leg of the guy getting pinned. In the reference shot, his leg is comming toward the POV, far away from the pinner's arm. It's also more in the foreground than his head.
In yours, you have the leg tucked under his arm, and on the same horizon line as his head, which is making him seem to be lying down.
Both of these radically transform the picture, and while it still looks good, it's hard to read the pose until you see the reference.

I see exactly what you mean, and thank you for pointing it out. The second point was one I had trouble with, especially when I tried adjusting proportions to match that of the character.

Yeah, I wasn't sure whether you were intentionally changing the POV (to suit their different proportions), and didn't quite get the angle change on their bodies, or were going for the original POV and didn't get the leg. It's still a really great piece on it's own.

Even though I usually didn't comment (there's always too many, so i don't think i can add anything) but having come back from a long absence... i can say you've improved

By the way, I always wanted to apologize for pretty much wasting the subscription you got for me once, but life is a bitch sometimes, and then one has to invest more time and effort in other stuff :\

This is great, amigo! Very well done! If this was anatomy I'd give a crap about how physically accurate the painting was, but it's art, and it's not featuring humans. I love it!

Thanks!
Truth be told some of the anatomy is off because I had to account for the characters' proportions relative to the positions they were in.

I am really loving the visual texture of the watercolor and casein on that paper. Really sweet.
If I can make one very tiny observation... The canvas at the foot of the corner bar, can you stain that with a mild shading so it looks like the post is at the corner of the canvas? I know it's such a piddly detail and likely not worth pursuing... I just wanted to point it out. Sorry. >_<
I am still loving that texture you have mastered. It's got some awesome visual bite in my thinking.

Interesting colour choices for both characters but I think suit them quite well, the wrestling position looks painful. D:
