Description
[WARNING!!! THIS IS A VERY OLD TUTORIAL AND HAS SOME BAD ADVICE IN IT: DO NOT USE THE DODGE OR BURN TOOLS FOR SHADING/HIGHLIGHTING, IT'S A BAD PRACTISE, ALSO TRY AND USE SEPARATE LAYERS FOR EVERYTHING YOU DO, OTHERWISE THERE'S STILL SOME USEFUL STUFF HERE]It's mainly designed to help those who use Paintshop, but it's also concentrated on giving an indication as to how you could go about CGing cartoon characters in a comic strip, or just a cartoony pic in general. The idea here is that it's not overly complicated CGing, thus being quite quick to do, and thus rather useful for comic purposes while still looking good!

It's interesting to see how you do things.
Being a layer freak, I think that you live a little too dangerously.
Your flood filling tends to be a bit easier since you use such crisp lines, but as I use pencil drawings a lot as my lineart, I often find myself wasting time filling in spaces that the flood fill doesn't do manually with a paintbrush tool.
No offense, but I think I'm sticking to my methods for now. It was very educational though!

I like to walk on the wildside
I did recommend though in that tutorial that to help yeh out if you do use pencil drawings, try using a layer above the scanned image to recreate your lines with the brush tool... thus making it much easier with filling!
No offense taken at all! This tut is designed to help those who are just starting to learn how to CG properly, or want a quick CGing method for doing comics

aww, nice tut! but time for my suggestions:
when you do the overall shaodws, instead of using a big chunky brush on high opacity, turn it down to like 10% and run over ti several times with diferent sizes. it will be smoother and if it IS chunky, you can use the blur too. other than that, this is great ^^

Hehe, thank yah!
That opacity thing does sound like a good idea, but it would be more time consuming... the idea being what I've shown here is how to quickly CG a comic character, since comics involve having to do a large amount of characters

yeah, but if you practice it goes faster! I can now color one of my pics really nicely in the time it used to take me to produce crap XD plus, I was telling YOU more than the tut. lol

Dear Gibbo-san you have inspired me so.. that I have begun a project.. a project I cannot stop. a project I absolutely suck at.. but am trying desperately at.. ...your critique when the time comes-- however honest or harsh, is necessary. All will be revealed when.... I .. post it.. .. ::vanish::
