‘Now, if you want to have beautiful blonde hair like me we need to put that wig on you.’ She strokes your hair, running her hands through it.

She grabs the wig and fits it over your head. You watch in the salon mirror as she adjusts, trying to make it sit naturally on your head. Every time she moves it your brown hair pokes through the blonde locks.

‘Oh no, I don’t think it’ll fit over all this hair.’

You smile at yourself in the mirror. Maybe if she can’t put the wig on you she’ll forget about all this and you can avoid the makeover. You watch as she reaches under the bench and pulls out a pair of clippers.

‘We want it to look natural don’t we?' She sees the panic in your eyes. 'I’m really sorry but I’m afraid we’ll have to shave it all off if we’re going to get it to fit. We have to do the beard anyway, we might as well do it all’.

Your hands tighten on the chair. You suggest a brunette wig that will blend in better with your own hair. She laughs.

‘You don’t want to be a brunette! Blondes have way more fun.’ She puts her hand on the back of your head. ‘I’m afraid there’s no alternative.’

She grabs the top of your hair tightly and the clippers hum as she turns them on. She feels your body clench.

‘Don’t worry. You’re only going to be bald for a minute and then you’ll have such pretty long hair. Trust me.’

She smiles wickedly.

‘And then if you want to keep having hair maybe you’ll have to stay dressed up as a girl for longer than just today, wouldn’t that be fun?’
