Weiss bit her lip as she felt the commands overpower her little resistance as she would give a nod.

"Yes...I...I understand..." Weiss replied as she began to recite her mission statement back to Cobalt, as the good little puppet she had become. Once she finished reciting it she would await further instructions.

Not that all of Weiss' will was gone for good...

"Better." Cobalt nodded his approval of Weiss' submission. Now that she had her mission, it was time to begin. "End of briefing." This command would end "Mission Statement", leaving Weiss conscious again but now with her orders internalized as deeply as her desire to become a Huntress.

With her regaining her senses, Cobalt began to open his folders and place various documents on the floor between them. Blueprints, employee profiles, and several other documents regarding the Schnee Dust Company. Taking a seat, he beckoned Weiss to join him. "If this is going to work, I need an insider's knowledge about anything and everything."

Weiss would nod, her mind reprogrammed as she took a seat next to Cobalt just as he had directed. Almost like she was his subordinate; which for all intents and purposes she was.

"I understand. I will provide whatever information I have." Weiss replied to Cobalt as she eyed the various documents on the floor.

The afternoon and evening would be spent as the two plotted and compared notes regarding the espionage and theft ahead of them. Noting the time, Cobalt began to gather up his documentation and returned it to the hidden compartment he reestablished. With everything back to normal, Cobalt handed Weiss the flash drive before opening the door for her.

"I'll keep in touch where I can. Prepare yourself in the meantime. Our mission window will arrive quickly." Bidding her farewell, Cobalt activated his scroll and reestablished contact with Dr. Watts. "Sir, phase one is a success. Miss Schnee has been successfully programmed."

Weiss would nod before she snapped back to her "usual" mode and went back to her dorm and explained to her worried teammates what happened that caused her to o missing throughout the afternoon and the evening. It took a few white lies but Weiss seemed to have them convinced everything was fine.

As Cobalt made contact, the sounds of a raven's call as one flew through the night.

Taxima In reply to godjacob [2017-09-19 11:54:23 +0000 UTC]

Cobalt glanced out the window as he made his report. Again with the raven. If they are native to Vale, then Beacon's infested with them. Returning to the task at hand, Cobalt eventually hung up on Dr. Watts and went about making other preparations. He would need to get into Atlas himself and he couldn't rely on Weiss to pull that off. Of course, a few tickets and a false passport were par for the course in his job and easily obtained by the usual means.

The time between was a simple affair. Cobalt played the false student while occasionally checking in on Weiss, reinforcing her programming where necessary. Finally, it was time for them to continue. The Vale airport was in a bustle with all of the students making arrangements to visit home. Cobalt maintained a careful distance as he shadowed Weiss on her way to her own flight.

Weiss made her way to her flight, her mind focused on the mission Cobalt "assigned" her as she easily made it past security check points and was currently making her way to the terminal.

Along the way, Weiss passed a group of peaceful Faunus protesters rallying against the segregated seats between Faunus and non-Faunus citizens on planes. Weiss paid them no mind, even if she had grown to sympathize with their plight due to her friendship with Blake.

Taxima In reply to godjacob [2017-09-19 23:24:33 +0000 UTC]

A few minutes and Cobalt began to follow after Weiss as they shared the same flight. Upon seeing the protestors, Cobalt only shook his head and rolled his eyes. Did they really think anyone was going to listen to them now if they hadn't been listening for the past ten thousand times? Animals couldn't learn from their past, apparently.

One of the protestors watched Cobalt's reaction and pointed him out from the crowd. Apparently, the fox-eared person took offense to his body language and started to rant on at Cobalt. With all eyes on him, Cobalt found it rather awkward to try and move. He had a flight to get to, dammit, why were these delays dogging him now?

(Considering that obvious foreshadowing is obvious, a little bad luck was due for the spy)

godjacob In reply to Taxima [2017-09-20 00:05:59 +0000 UTC]

"You, I saw they way you shook your head at us? Is the desire for equality a big joke to you!?" The fox-haired girl screamed at Cobalt, not taking his causal almost comical indifference to their protests very well which only served to delay him. This caused the crowd to focus on him, both human and Faunus, as the fox-girl continued to rant at him with the support of her fellow protesters.

The commotion caught Weiss' attention, as she shifted from getting on the flight to going to see what was going on. She moved her way through the sea of people to try and get a better look.

Taxima In reply to godjacob [2017-09-20 01:00:37 +0000 UTC]

Why was this suddenly turning into a carnival sideshow? Where these travelers not all heading for planes to take them home? Was it really so entertaining to see this fox yip and bark at him for body language any normal person would dismiss? Cobalt felt surrounded now by spectators and protestors. First the monkey, now the fox. The Faunus were going to be the death of him in this mission.

"Look, is this really something to make a scene out of? I'm just trying to catch my flight and I don't need you costing me several hundred lien in a replacement ticket."

"Anyone who supports a flight at this airline supports inequality! And the worst part is you don't even care!" The fox faunus shouted, not backing down even as Cobalt tried to disfuse the situation. Weiss eventually got to a point where she could see what was going on, and found Cobalt confronted by an angry mob of Faunus.

What did he do to make them made? Didn't look good if it was anything serious, hopefully this was just a misunderstanding being blown out of preparation or...

A sudden loud boom surged through the airport as the shock-wave of a noticeable explosion  that send everyone on their rears. Once that happened shock and panic began to spread as people ran around in a mad frenzy, both humans and Faunus protesters. Weiss only had a single thought running through her head.

What the hell just happened?

Taxima In reply to godjacob [2017-09-20 16:46:45 +0000 UTC]

Just as Cobalt opened his mouth to say something that would probably make things worse, everything turned violent. The ground shook and Cobalt could feel that boom in his teeth. His training kept him from falling on his backside, but he was crouched low to steady himself. Despite people panicking and the thought in his mind about Weiss, Cobalt only voiced one frustration.

"I swear to whatever god is listening, if this is somehow the White Fang's fault..."

godjacob In reply to Taxima [2017-09-20 17:23:08 +0000 UTC]

As people and Faunus ran in fear, a few masked figures charged through the sea of bodies.

Weiss quickly got in a fighting stance, still wondering what was happening before one of the figures clashed blades with the Schnee heiress. The attack on the airport seemed to be but a step in whatever idea these guys had in mind...Weiss specifically seemed to be a target as a couple more figures began to charge at the current battle.

Taxima In reply to godjacob [2017-09-20 19:06:37 +0000 UTC]

White mask. White Fang. That's it, he was going to kill them. No other way around it. Cobalt was going to take out his frustrations with these damn animals on the one pack of beasts no one would shed tears for. With a flick of his wrist, a pair of throwing knives made it into his hands. With deft throws, the two advancing members were struck true. Although their auras protected them, two more daggers found their mark, then another two, then another two.

Cobalt was using his semblance, the power to replicate the last object he touched if it were simple enough in design. So two knives became an endless supply until at last their auras broke and the last pair of knives found their throats.

The two White Fang operatives would drop dead but before Cobalt could make any progress a knife would graze the top of his left shoulder. You'd see a female White Fang operative with these odd...blood red eyes staring you down from behind her mast. She pulled out a sword and seemed ready to battle you.

Taxima In reply to godjacob [2017-09-21 00:09:28 +0000 UTC]

One of the big-name players. The White Fang were painfully predictable in this regard. Their leaders always had the more elaborate masks and almost never bothered with the uniforms they gave to their rank and file trash. Cobalt spared Weiss a sidelong glance before he got busy. THat blade looked like it could cover a good distance, so Cobalt made sure to put himself even further. As he backed up, a smoke bomb slipped from his sleeve and detonated on his opponent. With the momentary distraction, Cobalt broke into a run to get behind a pillar where he stilled his breath. Out of sight, he ran his fingers through his sleeve to find what to use next, drawing another throwing knife in one hand, and a length of wire in the other. Now he had but to wait...

godjacob In reply to Taxima [2017-09-21 02:35:24 +0000 UTC]

In a flash, the puller was cut clean in two, The White Fang commander held her blade, which generated a red surge of electricity as she glanced down at the croutched Cobalt.

"Surrender. You cannot win." The operative threatened, her voice as cold as the steel on her blade.

Taxima In reply to godjacob [2017-09-21 04:17:51 +0000 UTC]

While he hadn't expected this predicament, Cobalt could roll with the punches. There were always stories about Huntsmen or other impressive people performing superhuman feats, to say nothing about some of the more outlandish stories like the old king of Vale.

Rather than acknowledge the woman's demand for surrender, Cobalt sprung his trap. He threw the dagger now tied to the wire behind him. It looped around and came to his waiting hand, causing the wire to pull tight against his attacker's legs to trip her to the ground. Not to call it done, Cobalt threw the throwing knife he got back down at her. Rather than strike her, he merely pinned her clothing to the floor. A replica knife locked her in place on the opposite side as he beat a retreat from her. He didn't feel like he'd have the time to deplete her aura as he did her grunts.

His focus was on Weiss. Whatever these animals were doing, any harm that came to her would compromise the entire mission. "Weiss!"

Weiss had been busy fighting a pair of White Fang operatives when suddenly one of them had been kicked aside.

Velvet, member of Team CFVY had arrived.

"Thought you could use a hand." Velvet said, using her box and camera to create a duplicate of Weiss' rapier as the two fought the White Fang operatives; blades clashing in fierce battle.

During this, the White Fang commander freed herself from the bindings and began to channel this...sinister semblance as red lightning crackled around both her and her blade.

Taxima In reply to godjacob [2017-09-23 06:03:02 +0000 UTC]

Cobalt, fortunately, stopped himself before his readied knife was thrown. He was going to cleave off the rabbit's ears before it was made apparent that she was one of Weiss' allies. Sending a Faunus to help against a group of Faunus was not the wisest action. Looking back as his opponent pulled herself from the ground, the spy considered his options. This one's semblance was of raw destruction, but like him, it was channeled externally. That meant a greater drain on aura than most. His knives weren't likely to hit their mark if she could cleave such thick stone to nothingness with that power. His best option to salvage this day was to wear her out...

godjacob In reply to Taxima [2017-09-23 07:38:13 +0000 UTC]

The woman, still generating that electric spark around her body and blade, simply gave you Cobalt a death stare all the while Weiss and Velvet continued to fight the two White Fang operatives.

"Surrender Weiss Schnee, and your lives will be spared." The women explained to Cobalt while speaking loud enough for Velvet to hear. Making her intentions, as well as those of the other White Fang operatives, crystal clear.

Of course these dogs would be after the SDC heiress, as if that would do anything to her father from the intel he gathered on him from her. All the same, Dr. Watts was not going to appreciate this and Cobalt would be damned in more ways than one if he failed this assignment. With his hands buried in his sleeves, Cobalt leaned to the left only to dart right, throwing three of his throwing knives to the commander. Either she would have to slice the blades individually, or her semblance would react autonomously from her. By gauging the answer to that question, the spy began to rifle through more options.

A fist full of caltrops, little more than a sacrifice, for their metal frames to pop and melt in a brilliant show against her semblance and grant him a bit of distraction to run to a new hiding spot. Ducked in a news kiosk, Cobalt set a few small explosive charges around the interior. He couldn't replicate these complex little toys, but he had enough to feel comfortable as he made his leave from it. If it was anything like last time, he figured she'd destroy his cover fairly shortly, just in time to receive a hand grenade's worth of a surprise.

Surprisingly, nothing happened. Cobalt would remained covered for a good while but the woman would not make a move. In fact, the sounds of fighting had stopped all together. Even from Weiss and Velvet's end as it sounded like everything had just...stopped.

A eerie silence fell over the area, one that would be chilling for most. Eventually though Cobalt would hear footsteps walking towards his cover area. Seemed someone was approaching as that same crackling sound of lightning filled the air again

Taxima In reply to godjacob [2017-09-25 11:01:27 +0000 UTC]

...The kiosk erupted from his explosive charges. The attack it was meant to counter never came. How could they have predicted his counter? The air was heavy and quiet. This wasn't making sense. Fights don't just "stop" like this. Footsteps echoed and Cobalt was without cover. His hands rested in his sleeves as he waited for whatever came next.

godjacob In reply to Taxima [2017-09-26 02:58:28 +0000 UTC]

"Are you okay?"

Cobalt would hear the voice of Weiss, holding the blade of the female White Fang soldier that still crackled with red electricity. The White Fang soldiers....were gone. Just vanished out of thin air. Velvet inspected the area, her replica of Weiss rapier drawn just to be safe.

"Doesn't make a lick of sense. They go bomb an airport, try to abduct Weiss...and then just vanish in the blink of an eye. Something isn't right." Velvet mumbled to herself, loud enough for both Cobalt and Weiss to hear.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Taxima In reply to godjacob [2017-09-26 14:05:37 +0000 UTC]

Weiss? How had she gotten the woman's weapon? More to the point... why was she still handling the weapon while it emitted a dangerous energy like that? A dangerous energy he was almost certain was that operative's semblance. This attack couldn't have just been such a small batch of animals, not if such a high priority target was present. Cobalt's hands didn't leave his sleeves, still poised on one of his tools. Nothing about this made sense and that kept Cobalt on edge. He kept his eyes on Weiss and Velvet but strained his hearing. What was the difference? What was this game?

godjacob In reply to Taxima [2017-09-26 16:16:34 +0000 UTC]

"Well in any event, I think taking this back to Beacon would be wise. This weapon is odd, as it still is producing semblance despite its owner having long-since vanished." Weiss said, still examining the weapon as it crackled red electricity.

"Well, my flight and every other flight is no doubt canceled due to this attack. Though are you sure holding that is wise?" Velvet asked as Weiss thought it over.

"You make a decent point. I wish I had one of those containment units. Maybe you can make a replica of my rapier holder and I can put this in that?" Weiss asked Velvet, who got her camera and box ready to copy Weiss' rapier holster.

Taxima In reply to godjacob [2017-09-26 17:56:45 +0000 UTC]

Weiss didn't seem like a trophy collector, but at the moment, he was at least certain she wasn't going to try and run him through with it. Letting his hands free again, Cobalt pulled out his scroll only to see a lousy reception. The damn blast must have damaged something to assist with the CCT reception. Beacon it was then. With the flights grounded probably for days, they'd need a new method to reach Atlas before the vacation window was up. At this rate, they'd have to take a boat far enough to reach an unaffected airport and fly the rest of the way there. So long as Weiss held the mission programming, this was the best option available.

Weiss would put the sword in the duplicate holster and strap it to her belt as she made sure she and Velvet were ready to go, before saying this.

"Thanks Velvet. You saved my butt." Weiss said with a smile, one that Velvet returned in kind.

"Anything for a friend. Ready to head back?" Velvet asked as Weiss replied with a nod, then she glanced over to Cobalt.

"And who is this? a friend of yours?" Velvet asked Weiss in reference to Cobalt.

"Uh, travel partners." Cobalt cleared his throat as the Faunus joined him and Weiss on what was going to be a long trip back. "We were both going to visit Atlas for the vacation. Then... well, this happened." Back to acting. Once more Cobalt had to be the exchange student.

"Travel partners?" Velvet said with an eyebrow raised as she glanced at Weiss, who simply nodded in response. Velvet decided to just drop it, Weiss typically had a good head on her shoulders anyway.

Though, why Atlas?

"So, are you both ready to go back?" Velvet asked Weiss who smiled and nodded and turned to Cobalt to wait for his response.

Taxima In reply to godjacob [2017-09-27 02:45:32 +0000 UTC]

"The sooner the better." Was Cobalt's response. Law enforcement wasn't something he wanted to stick around for. Killing the animals could easily be called self-defense, but Cobalt wouldn't dare risk having to be brought in for questioning. Cobalt was careful about his business, that was the whole reason he was still alive, but he didn't feel like stress testing anything.

Naturally, it was chaos outside. News vehicles, ambulances, and too many cops for Cobalt's liking. How did all these people miss the White Fang as they fled? Useless. Maybe he wouldn't have that much to worry about. Though he still didn't like the idea of being held up by these people. Weiss was still carrying that charged weapon, but more annoyingly, the rabbit was still with them.

He wanted to ensure they got out swiftly but would have to word the trigger carefully. "The last thing any of us wants is to be held up for hours by these guys and I can bet they'll want to keep us forever regarding your new luggage. I say we not linger and get out of her as fast as possible, if you'd please. Let's go." Hopefully stressing the urgency of leaving before activating the trigger would impart haste in his "let's go" command.

Weiss and Velvet had been answering some questions asked about what had happened when the trigger hit Weiss at that moment as she would grab Velvet and Cobalt by the arms and begin to lead them past the crowd.

"Sorry, we're in a rush and gotta go. I'm sure local law enforcement will be able to answer your questions." Weiss explained as she pushed through the sea of bodies. Velvet looked on with an eyebrow raised, curious where this sudden urgency came from but thought nothing more about it. Probably just wanted to get away from the chaos.

Taxima In reply to godjacob [2017-09-28 02:04:10 +0000 UTC]

Well, this was a surprise. Seemed that when Weiss was in the mood, she could be an unstoppable force. Cobalt had to struggle to keep up as she pulled them through. A Schnee who could get what she wanted as fast, and as painful, as she wanted. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree it seems.

It didn't take long at this pace to get them out of the worst of the crowds into something more normal for Vale. "Damn those psychotics. The whole kingdom's going to be reeling from this for months."

Velvet herself soon fell to a knee, tears in her eyes as she scanned the carnage as she slammed her fist in the ground.

Tears of sadness...and tears of rage.

"Those...those bastards! Ever time, every single time we make strides in gaining acceptance those lunatics have to go and muck everything up undoing all the good work done for Faunus everywhere. Innocent Faunus are forever judged for the actions of this cult, and it's bullshit!" Velvet yelled, letting her anger for White Fang and their actions shine through as Weiss went over and placed a comforting arm around Velvet's shoulder. With Weiss' history with Faunus, the fact she considered multiple ones her friends now and was even willing to comfort one in pain showed how far she had come since she arrived at Beacon.

Cobalt paid no mind to Velvet's emotional moment. For him, there was only his assignment to worry about. They seemed to have stopped in a place with better reception. From here, Cobalt was able to get online and began to search for boat passage to get as far as they could until a plane could be viable again.

"Alright, let's head back to Beacon. Everything will be all-right, we've got to have this sword looked at and maybe it can give us a clue as to what White Fang is planning and we can stop them." Weiss said with a pat on Velvet's shoulder as Velvet wiped away the tears and stood up to give a nod.

"Alright, I'm ready." Velvet said as she and Weiss turned to Cobalt to see if he was ready to go.

Nodding to himself on what seemed like the best option, Cobalt turned off his scroll and looked back to the girls. "Hm? I'm ready." Not that he believed Beacon was going to learn anything from a weapon. It was clearly the semblance that made it destructive and it was folly to think the charge would last for long without its originator. Still, Cobalt fell into step along with the Faunus and his programmed soldier.

Weiss and Velvet, with Cobalt in toe, would begin to make their way back to Beacon to report on what happened and hopefully get any kind of clue on what White Fang is up to.

During the walk Weiss and Velvet would exchange some small talk to help pass the time.

While Velvet and Weiss spoke, Cobalt began running plans in his head. With this sudden and violent attack, it would make the news. As soon as Jauques Schnee found out what almost happened to his daughter, he'd be worried for her. Well, worried for what she represented, considering the venomous information Weiss provided regarding him during their planning together.

That meant by the time they got to Atlas, Schnee might demand tighter security for his daughter. That meant they'd have to work around a possible bodyguard for Weiss to complete her mission. A diversion might be needed on Cobalt's part...
