This map shows the political situation in 1846 of the Middle Hemisphere, which are located the continent of Akrenvar (all the lands east of the black mountains of the Kyun), the east part of the continent of Visdenvar (all the lands west of the black mountains of the Kyun), most of the continent of Irvia (at the South-East corner of the map), and the islands of Kynreland.
Context
Is the year 1846, in this moment the Earth is dominated by the Five Great Powers: Henthor, Kyun, Raftschen, Vontient, and Arthenia. Those nations accomplished their dominance because of the Industrial revolution and previous minor conquest of minor nations.
Right now, under the reign of Emperor Ferdinand V, The Henthorian Empire rules above the five. By having the greatest colonial territories under its control, the greatest army, the most prosperous economy, and being the place which the industrial revolution originated, the empire is now the most powerful nation of human history. But the Henthorian dominance has been challenged; the Kingdom of Rakvonia has recently claimed independence from being a puppet state in a brutal war, whose leader was King Aleksander VII, and was militarily aided by Raftschen, Kyun and Arthenia. While the empire was under a dictatorship ruled by General William Tord, who, was secretly a herald of the God of Death, Naktor the Second Son. He was defeated by Norman-Theodor Jakgæn, the Master Herald sent by the God of Life Lukthor himself. Norman is now the Grand duke of Pragnagavent, at this position he established a complex of alliances with the objective of keeping a forced peace, at least in the timeframe he is alive.
Norman´s oldest son, Theodore, is now the King of Vontient, because of his mother Evangeline having the royal blood of her father King Jean XI, who was deposed and killed in a coup d’état by his own nephew, King Laurence II in 1811, but suddenly died in 1827 in an armed rebellion for the Liberation of the region of Fuslon. He was succeeded by his son, Jean XII who was a responsible king, caring of his people, but after his death in another Fuslon rebellion in 1839 the kingdom came into the hands of his brother, Jourdain IV who had schizophrenia and his reign compromised: just after nine months of his coronation was deposed by a military coup, then the senate and the military, decided to coronate Theodore as their new king.
Theodore is married with Ana, daughter of Emperor Boleslav of the Arthenan Empire, the oldest existing state since 392, who gained his right to the throne after his victory in the war of the Three princes. The war originated because the previous emperor, Theophylaktos IV had no sons and there was no council to decide the next person to sit in the throne. So, three cousins of him proclaimed themselves the rightful princes and heirs, because Theophylaktos was not dead yet. Boleslav is also the son of the current Queen of Serenamia, Jovanka II, making opportunities to the empire to expand its influence in the arkozian realms, which are located in one of the most unstable regions of Akrenvar, due to the many undelaying nationalisms that every country has.
At the west of the arkozian realms is located the Vysodart Empire, its formal name is Raftschen, which is the name of the imperial family, whose head is the Kaiser Ludwig III. The empire lies in one of the most fertile lands of Akrenvar making it the best possible farming zones in the continent. The vysodarts have a long culture based in discipline and military, and usually combine those principles with many aspects of their lives, such as the industry, commerce, education, and politics. They are well known for having one of the best cavalry units in the world, as velocity has been a mayor point in their strategy throughout all their history. And the vysodarts have impregnated nationalism as the main state ideology, which remotes to the years of Kaiser Wetzlar I the Great of the Wetzlar dynasty, who under his reign (812 – 861) the Vysodart empire was at its highest expansion and was the most powerful nation of its time.
The north-western regions of Akrenvar are called The Kyun, which are the core for the second largest empire of the world, having the same name of the region. Even having that large territory, The Kyun has the most centralised and most autocratic government of the Five Great Powers. Authoritarianism has worked to the kings and emperors and has been used since the times of the King Vasyli I, the man who consolidated his power in the dominions near the Solten River, and made possible for his sons, and the sons of his sons to expand into the wildlands and the other weak realms. But the empire is always in dangerous when corruption runs out of control or the emperor is not strong enough to claim his rule by right, making it easy to the evil hands to see the great collapse. This almost happened to its most recent ruler: Empress Yelizaveta who inherited the throne at the age of 10 in 1832, when her father was assassinated by an opponent oligarchy, plotting to gain more power for themselves. But the empress had good companions in her court, who managed to kill all the enemies of the state and taught Yelizaveta to do it by herself when she grew older.
One other thing you need to know is that magic exists in this world, but is called energy, or makur (which means energy or capacity in the language of the gods). For the humans, the use of makur is divided in three disciplines: The first one is Alchemy: The ability to change the surrounding matter through the might of the mind. The second one is Resiliency: The ability to cure physical and mental injuries or making new ones. The third one is Animacy: The ability to move matter without making physical contact, just using the mind.
But it is very unlikely to an average human to cast any spell, because is necessary to have the blood of the God-King of the universe Lukthor, or any of his guardians (in some cultures are also called gods), but even if a person has the old blood, the possibility of having those powers still low. But for those who are gained these abilities, are called Heralds, and those who are designated by the gods to do a mission for them are called Master heralds, who tend to be more powerful, and can dominate the three disciplines. The God of death Naktor can also create beings able to use the makur, but they are not truly alive and cannot reproduce, they are called Demons or Heralds of death.
I have left many information that I am still working on, but if you ask, I might respond to you if I can. Also, English is not my native language, so is expected to encounter some errors. I know this map is not the most perfect one and has some errors that I have without correct them, but there´s nothing that an updated version could get right in the future. I also want to bring more things than maps, such flag, symbols, and lore, but all will depend if I have time.
