Really? That's insane!
Then the shuttlecraft going out of the hangar bay in the movie is completely out of proportion, or it is the size of an Airbus.

Well, according to John Eaves and Alex Jeager, it's length is 2379.75 ft., about 725 meters and change.
Either way, I find these measurements to be a little exaggerated, and, for the most part, there hasn't really been an official statement on the subject from the people responsible, only hints and innuendo.
That's why I haven't included the accustomed figurines at scale to show the proportions, because I need confirmation first.
Thanks anyway for the tip.

Frankly, I don't think the film makers care. I believe when the model was built the modeller mistook feet for meters for the original 9 hundred some odd feet she was in TOS.
Even so, I'm not a big fan of this design. My fave is still the TMP version, your drawings of that one are now my wallpaper....
Please keep it up

Yeah. I don't think they did, either. That usually happens when the designer knows very little about the history behind what he/she is working for. Anyway, I've seen designs made for the latest TV shows that were pretty far from what was considered "traditional".
I think the best way to make things work is to base the design in the intended function of what you're working on. Even if it's fake, as in the case of fictional space ships, and not in the "coolness" of its aesthetics. If you got that right, beauty comes as a given.
Thanks for your kind words.
