Description
Felt like drawing some Kashir. Val and Sam is what I call em. and Their 'handler' Scott. Most Kashir when attempting to integrate into human society, are assigned basically a person like prisoners are given parole officers. Normally a Soldier who's job it is to mostly keep an eye on them and assist them into the integration.ΒRelated content

Wow, the Kashir are a lot bigger than I expected. I would bet that would hinder their integration into human society conisdering most buildings, hallways and doors would be way to small for them.

They're huge. But the population of the exiles that were accepted by humanity are only in the couple hundred of thousands. The 3 colonies they will be integrating on are fairly new, and buildings can be built. But they're almost completely carnivorous, which is one main reason many humans don't and won't trust them.

I know a few humans that are almost completely carnivorous. What else do they eat other than meat? Β TheΒ integrated Kashir are all exiles, from what?
Also, a bit off topic, when did humanity first discover alien life? Not sentient life like the Kashir, rather alien plants and animals.Β

The Kashirim can eat fruits and plantlife. But their digestion isn't meant for large intake of most of these, so their diet is almost completely Meat.
Β The Kashir are exiles from their planet. Their homeworld after human interaction wants nothing to do with us, and they exile the ones that follow us.
Terra was the first to be discovered with alien plantlife and animals. Though, most of the original species are dead and replaced with earth species

I've liked these aliens when they've appeared before.Β It makes one hope that humans can come together if reptile folks can be integrated into human society.
Scott looks to be long suffering.Β They probably make life difficult for him?Β If nothing else, I hope that the elbow on the head business is a sign of familiarity?
Their behavior suggests that they aren't so different after all!
At least you've given them some braincase, sometimes artists draw 'intelligent reptile' profiles without much thought of the brain that would make them intelligent.Β On the other hand, you've also avoided the other sin of making them TOO human seeming. The 'guy in the rubber suit' issue.Β Despite being clear bipeds, and a humanoid seeming, they have some clear differences, and I like their sinuous large forms, rather than bulky large forms.
Feather-like filaments for hair?

Humanity is highly xenophobic. And though despite this, to help try and remove the age old stigma of an outside species the government turned 3 current colonies into multi-species colonies as testing grounds for the hundreds of thousands of displaced Kashir exhiled from their homeworld. The hopes is that not only can we establish them their own home, but the Republic can shape itself into a intergalactic alliance of sorts. The discovery of another species basically rekindled many things: Humanity's urge to explore, the fear of outside non-human threats, and racism. But there's hope that they can co-exist.
Scott is sick of their shit already, yes. But yes, the elbow is definitely a sign of familiarity.
These two, Sam is a candidate for military, and Val wants to be an explorer. Go out and help colonize new planets, some for her species and Sam wants to help fight with the race that uplifted her kin from the dark ages.
They aren't. Though there's different species, and they may have different customs, nobody is robotic. THough their behavior still retains some primitive aspects.
The original versions were going to be the stereotypical hulking warlike monsters that just kill everything. They were also going to have 4 arms. I changed it after putting more thought into it all of course! I figured there's many lizard species that can be used as example from todays world that aren't these hulking monsters, but more slender and quick, so I used that as the go-to example.
Yes actually. It's not feathers exaxtly, but a mix of things like it.

Yes. Sebek are one of two natural warmongers of the setting. No common goals tho - one state allied with humans from AHN, another is imperialΒ revanchists, few others are either neutral or just pirates.

See, I wanted humanity to be the warmongering race. Too often is it depicted that humans are the victims of some alien empire or something. In my case, the Kashir are a peaceful society that Humanity comes in and essentyially corrupts beyond all reason

Nice idea. But how obligate predators (judging by their jaw and teeth layout) can evolve to peaceful culture?
And in DI - we try to stick to realism, Battletech-style one. So, aliens are secondary. Main plot - is about clash of three human superpowers. Each one with it's own truth - technocrats, clericals and faschists. So, no "good" or "bad" ones - cluster is just too small for everyone.

Relatively well actually. Depending on if there's a stable amount of food on their planet and if they have such means to not start tearing into each other, like ample living space, or enough resources to not feel the need to march all over anyone else.
Their homework is largely untamed, and their population was not high enough to start putting food supplies at risk. On top of that learning how to raise food like cattle, and learning agriculture to feed said 'cattle'. Their society has no armies, moreso just hunters, and city guard. Its an alien world. their customs don't necessarilt have to be the same as ours.
As for realism, this setting I've done extensive research into tech, space, politics, this setting is as realistic as it could be made

I see. From my science candidate (analog of PhD) grad in ecology - I can say, that any and all advanced predators are strictly territorial. So, each pack may have no other reasons to fight or segregate with other packs except they wery existence. And that's from where warmongering comes.Β
Nice to hear that at least someone except us reads "science fiction" from the word "science". DI development was started after group of authors was really pissed off by owerwhelming amount of "jewdy-pewpew" or "Make like HALO" bullshit called "sci-fi".

Maybe if they were like something out of jurassic park. They're not dinosuars, and they're really not the stereotypical space-lizards that consume all. There are no packs, there havent been any on their planet for hundreds of years. They might be lizards but they're not feral.

Maybe. But there is "evolutionary imperaqtive" theory, that states, that all ecosystems, which formed in similar conditions, evolve in similar way. But yeah, I'll stop to carp. )

Humanity for the most part is widely Xenophobic. The governments hopes is that establishing a couple of colonies for coexistence with the displaced species can dispell some of that phobia.
The soldier is there for counter productive reasons. "They're still carnivores. What if they attack people? Let's put a military presence on the planet to be sure!"
As for potential in human society there's ups and downs on that. But man Always thought another species would reach out to us first. So we were surprised to find that we were the ones instead who first found aliens.
Thanks man!
