Throughout the Free Colonies, numerous small time and semi-large scale mercenary companies exist. From the massive paramilitary of Crimson lotus, to the small ragtag force of Iron Tide. There exists many in-between companies, such as the Dawn Genesis. Smaller than Crimson Lotus, but still as deadly. Often selling themselves out as an army for hire for corporations that don't have their own paramilitary under their name. Dawn Genesis doesn't have the questionable morals and ethics that the Crimson Lotus group does, but that doesn't mean they're innocent either. They've been notorious for assisting corporations in invading small independent nations or their territories. But that just comes with the territory of being in a mercenary organization. Even Trident does this on a daily basis.

Comprised mostly of people on the outskirt sectors of the free colonies, less than those from major superpowers, but with little loyalty to that even of their own homeworlds. Corporations pay big. And attacking your former homeworld's territory for a shit ton of money is easy.

With connections to the confederacy, it gives the mercs a nice place to retire to after selling out their old ramshackled outskirt system to a more developed inner system.
