This is just plain Beautiful
Great job man
did you use a fisheye lense on this one or something else?

goldomega In reply to SyndicDesigns [2008-05-09 01:34:22 +0000 UTC]
Nope. It's three shots side-by-side stitched together into one image. Gives the impression of a fisheye with greater resolution and without the specialty glass. Thanks for asking!

I used the photomerge function in Photoshop CS3. It does a pretty good stitch.

wow really nice. seems like a wide-angle shot to me :] maine is somewhere i'd really like to see someday. i think the coastline is somewhat similar to what we have here in washington and up in british columbia as well. lots of little inlets and islands. nice capture, that sky is outrageous

Thanks so much. I just love the coast and have always wanted to visit the Pacific Northwest. I'm told the countryside out that way is really beautiful.

My pleasure.
Some weekend soon, I'll be driving up the Maine coast with my fiancee taking photos of lighthouses. Should be loads of fun. Whereabouts in Maine were you thinking of visiting?

I don't have the first clue. I've never been further north than Boston, I have seen and heard only the loveliest things about the coast of Maine. Suggestions are always welcome!

York Beach and Old Orchard Beach are nice places to visit in the summer. I'm told Bar Harbor is a lovely place to visit as well. Lots to do in Portland. Can't go wrong with any of those. Lots of nice ocean/lighthouse views if you just drive north along route 1.

Thanks so much. With so much detail and at such a broad angle, a multi-shot pano was the only way to go. I try to pay close attention to contast ratios; I prefer HDR shots with really believable lights & darks. I'm so glad it shows

It was simply breathtaking in person. I was so fortunate to be in a place where I had such a sweeping view of the sky. Usually, there are too many trees in the way.

Thanks so much, my man. I haven't been out shooting since early January, but it's given me a chance to work on some of these rough gems hiding away in my archives and make them look the way they deserve to. Thanks for having a look!
