Description
I had so much fun with the last tutorial that I made, I decided to make another one today. I wanted to do a still life tutorial this time so I chose to draw a lighter. The actual tutorial is not on my site yet but it will be tomorrow sometime. I am still wording everything. Anyways, here's the drawing I did for the tutorial.6"x9" Fabriano Hotpress
3B, 3B mechanical, H pencils
no blending
a couple hours

Whoa! Dude! I've thought that, but I've never actually thought about doing it! That's brilliantly simple, and really irritating to post up photos and say they're drawings!

looks awsome.
i think the scratches are a nice touch. most likely it would have looked just as good (and real) without them but i think it gives it more personality. makes it look like it is used.

truely amazing, I dunno how u can do it.

Thanks, yeah I have not been blending lately. I will probably go back to blending though. I just wanted to play around with not blending for a while and see how I like it. I really like how much control it gives you with the graphite not blending. But I like how blended drawings look still. The shattered bottle I'm working on right now isn't blended at all but it looks like it is. Actually, I take that back, I blended the shadows under the bottle but they are the only blending I will do.

hey man thats good
dont take this the wrong way but i have experienced if u take a magnifying glass and make those white scratches look thin through a magnifying glass it looks more realistic because they dont look as thick
i dont no if that makes sense but it was worth a shot. great gallery btw

whoopee! How to draw a zippo!
that shine thing you do, that id definitely want to learn. That would be great in armors and melee weapons im going to draw

Thanks The shine is basically made just by drawing darker tones around the highlights and keeping the highlights clean.

I love the scratches, it definitely adds to the piece. Any metal zippo will have them, this one looks worn and used, like a real zippo. I think the strongest point of the piece would be the top where the flame would come out. It looks perfect, the reflection, the shading of the metal, all of it. The only part I dont think is working is the bottom right hand corner. THe perspective of the edge seems to be a little off. It could just be my eyes, but it doesnt seem quite right to me. Anyways, I hope to see more from you soon. Keep it up.
