Whoa! Lookin' great Manny! I like the off centeredness.
In the reflections...Did you do some voodoo with the reflection mapping to get that cool waviness or is it the model itself?
I like that effect. It's like multiple thick layers of paint.
Shiny black looks great. Brings out the colors nicely.

The model has a HyperNurbs at 6 and it starts from a very very rough model which has very low poly count. That I believe is what caused the surface to be not so smooth.
The spheres are made up of three different objects. The outer layer... the FROSTED GLASS inner layer has color and then a sphere in the center with a glow shader to lend light to flow through the frosted layer.
The outer shell uses a multi color metal shader which also has a slight noise diffusion on it that may be adding to the bumpiness of the surface but I did not imagine it would unless it was applied to the bump layer. Could just be a diffusion effect causing an optical illusion as opposed to the object itself being not so smooth. I can share the scene file with you for your investigation
