This collage is not bad. Not good, but not bad. Or at least that's what Stuckey would probably say about it Anyways, after meeting the two cutest characters on the Show, Beehonie and Toot, let's meet more of Kissyfur's swamp cub friends, shall we? Let's say hello to his glass-is-always-half-empty friend, Stuckey
Stuckey is a porcupine, and I want to start out by saying that...holy cow does his character design change a ton between the specials/Season 1 and Season 2. His original design with all the extra quills and stuff makes him look almost like a gray version of Mercer Mayer's "Little Critter" character. But in season 2 they totally overhauled his character design. If not for the fact that he's the same color and has the same voice actor, I'd have a hard time telling this was even supposed to be the same character. If anything his season 2 design makes him look more like a hedgehog...This is an easy way to know what season whatever episode you might decide to watch of this show belongs to
Anyways, Stuckey, as I said, is a porcupine, and if I had to describe him in just a few words? He's basically a child version of Eeyore. Stuckey speaks in a very slow, almost monotone at times voice, showcasing how little joy he feels in his young life. He's rarely ever smiling or happy. He has a rather gloomy outlook on life in general. He'll often describe things in rather depressing ways, proclaiming them to be "terrible", "not good", or "not cool". He even says at one point that he finds life to be cruel at times. I can see somebody being worn down by age and bad experiences that come with it coming to that world view, but somebody who's just a child? (After all according to my sources Stuckey is about eight years old...) Wow, that's really...sad if you think about it. He's somewhat shy and doesn't seem to like attracting attention to himself, as well.
His depression is toned down a bit in Season 2, but he's still not the brightest ray of sunshine even then. He also, naturally, has very low self esteem and confidence in himself. He doesn't seem to think he's capable of very much. Being a porcupine poses him a real problem-his quills often end up messing up a task he's trying to perform. They come as a nice handy form of defense from Floyd and Jolene and anyone else who might wish to make a snack out of him, but they can easily ruin his day just as well, too. In one episode Stuckey is tasked with helping Lennie make a mudhole, but when Lennie congratulates him on a job seemingly well done, he smacks Stuckey on the back, causing him to fall on the hose and puncture it with his quills, messing everything up. Poor Stuckey is deeply upset because he feels he can't even handle simple tasks in life. His friends (save for Lennie) try to cheer him up by telling him it was just an accident and that these things just happen sometimes, but his germophobic pig friend Duane only makes things worst by saying it's not Stuckey's fault if he can't handle a simple job. Stuckey breaks down in tears after hearing that. Gee, as Beehonie ends up pointing out to him, good job Duane, you've succeeded in only making him feel worse! The poor kid doesn't think he can do anything right, damn...
Stuckey does have his better moments though. He's not a terrible friend despite his depressive ways, and will often jump to help out or come along on an adventure if need be. For example, when Kissyfur runs away from home after thinking his father hates him (I keep bringing that episode up, lol), Toot is the first to join him, but Stuckey also volunteers to come along, not because he thinks it's a good idea or anything great will come out of it, but as he says, because "What are friends for?" He can also be a little snarky at times and has a few good quips at Lennie's expense every now and then. His shining episode in the spotlight is the already mentioned one where his depression hits a low point, "Stuck with Stuckey". Kissyfur tries to help Stuckey gain more confidence in himself and prove that he can do tasks by himself by passing along a job he was going to take himself-babysitting Lennie's young twin cousins Ricky and Dicky (gosh...so many bad jokes I could make over a character with a name like that ). Unfortunately for Stuckey the twins are a couple of brats who end up tricking and confusing him, eventually running off and leaving him behind. But then they get captured by Floyd and Jolene, and are about to become their dinner! Despite serious self-doubts, Stuckey is able to use his wits and think on the fly, and ends up saving the twins from the gators' guts. By the end of the episode the twins now are quite fond of Stuckey and seem to enjoy being babysat by him, and Stuckey is truly grateful to Kissyfur for showing him that yes, he can succeed at something by himself. A very nice episode, one of my favorites
Overall...I rather like Stuckey a lot, I could see how someone would dislike his character as seeing a character who is always down on himself and down in life in general could get old or tiresome very quick, but I like him a lot. Perhaps because...sadly...I think Stuckey is the character in this series I relate to personally the most. I know very much what it's like to be like Stuckey or feel like him. I've had many long-term battles with depression and anxiety in my life, and even to this day with medication to help me I still have nagging doubts and fears that I'm a failure in life or that everybody I know or care about secretly hates me. Having known what it's like to feel like that, he's an easy character to relate to
Up next, meet Kissyfur's germophobe pig friend, a rather foppish young fellow who can be a bit haughty at times, Duane. Not one of my favorite characters to be honest...

Between both seasons, they almost look like different characters.

Goodness yes. I do wonder why his character design got changed so dramatically compared to everyone else. I mean, there's changes to everyone else owing to it being a different animation studio, but everyone else is still pretty recognizable. Maybe they thought his design was too complicated, or that he looked too much like Little Critter?
Something else I wanna say about Stuckey: Where the heck are his parents? I know he mentions having parents more than once, but we never see them once in the series. We see everybody else's folks at least a couple of times in the series, but not Stuckey's. Of course I'm missing the last 3 episodes of the show so I could be wrong and they show up there, but I have my doubts on that. Wonder why they never featured?

I don't think I'd call him "peaceful!" Mellow and the least excitable maybe, but if anything he's basically like Eeyore the kid if you think about. It's a little sad that a child is already feeling rather sad and unhappy in the world like him, isn't it?
But yes I like Stuckey too
