Description
One of the more successful lines of genetically-engineered war beasts, the "Reaver" series is designed to be maneuverable through many environments, midly resistant to firearms, and intelligent enough to follow orders. A genetic flaw causes them to be "born" without the upper layer of their skulls, but soon after production they're fitted with a special helmet that includes a visor, scent receptors, audio sensors, a breathing device, and a CPU that feeds programmed orders directly into their brainIn battle Reavers are known for their characteristic metallic cry and vicious relentlessness in combat. They will climb, leap or tear their way through obstacles to reach marked prey, twirling their bodies to slash elongated scythe-claws with deadly precision. Their ridged jaws are even strong enough to break holes in metal.
Being relatively easy to produce, with little requeriments or unstabilities and fairly reliable, the Reavers are very demanded bioweapons, and several variants are mass-produced to fulfill certain needs. The Xasheen are known to favour tougher, scaled models for their arid homeplanet. Both Risen and Gulchabrahva lean towards amphibious versions, and it is no secret that gigantic models are under production to better suit the Alaerin military.
For security measures, all Reaver models are unable to reproduce and require periodical vitaminic compounds to survive; without them, even a completely healthy and efficient Reaver will die of multiple organ failure over the span of a day

Yet another intriguing contribution to the Legacy setting.
Btw, which race/group created the Reavers?

I'd say the first were probably the Gulchabrahva clan Fle's 'Rp, once they saw they could make a profit when biotechnology became popular galaxy-wide, and they still remain the biggest manufacturers

Hm, I'd understand how the Xasheen and the Gulchabrahva would have access to them, but everyone?

They could be purchased just like you could get regular weapons or tanks in conventional warfare, or morew like trained dogs
