2023 update: Colors n' style stuff!
Aradite Schröder is one of the main characters of my comic Un-Phased .
Who is Aradite?
Here are the Basics:
- Her full name is Aradite Gertrude Schröder (Schroeder if you remove the umlaut)
- Feel free to call her Ari, it saves a syllable.
- She is the (slightly) older twin sister of Zakieus Schröder
- She's 18 years old, 5'7" (170 cm,)
- While she's trained in most melee weaponry, her specialty is the short sword
All things considered, Aradite's pretty laid back. She likes to roll with the punches and have fun in the process. Literally, actually. After squiring under a knight for several years, fighting has become her main de-stresser. Though it takes a lot to stress her in the first place. She likes to at the positives of every situation she's in and she's usually the one to help other people calm down. For her friends and family, Aradite is fiercely loyal. Whether it's with her sword or with her words, Aradite will always stand up for those she loves. She also sees the good in people, which has made her rather trusting.
The story so far:
"Good Lord. I'm used to Zak's adventures being disasters, but this is something else. He comes home with these powerful pendants saying we need to bring them to Naydessa. If we don't, some mysterious people will use them to take over Aisiland, or something. Honestly, if I didn't know my brother, I'd think this was a joke.
"And if that wasn't enough, on our way to Naydessa, Zak got himself into more trouble! Due to some brotherly stupidity, we now owe a debt to a kind merchant who thankfully didn't send Zak away for breaking his things. So now, delivering the pendants is taking longer, and Zak's upset about it. I don't really mind though. Val and Mr. Olivier are good company, and I get to spend a little longer with the pendants. Even though Zak insists that they're just your ordinary magic item, I feel really connected to it. Plus the fire sword is very fun to swing around, I gotta say."
Fun Facts:
- Usually rests with her left hand on her sword. If she's not wearing it, her thumb will be in her belt loop. If she's stressed, her right hand will be on her sword.
- When not training, she'll do some embroidery to be creative
- She was raised bilingual with Aisilish from her mom's side and Carnalian from her dads side (the languages are interpreted in the comic as English and German respectively)
- Most of the time, she doesn't do her own braids as it takes too much time. So she gets Val to do it for her since he's up early like she is~

I wish I had one as well, but all I know is German, which is not helpful in Germany :'D English, French (but I wouldn't say I'm good at it :'D) and Latin that no one speaks x'D I could start with computer languages but I feel like when I'm with my friends we already talk like aliens for others :'D

Lookin' slick!
Found one small typo in the last sentence of the backstory (correction in italics/bold):
"... an extremely powerful item that could be extremely dangerous if in the wrong hands."
Also, with that same last line - maybe it's just a personal pet peeve I like to hold against my own writing or ingrained in me from lit class, but I try to avoid using the same adjectives multiple times in proximity when possible (though with some exception in spoken sentences, such as when being used for emphasis, or for the fact that most people aren't natural walking thesauruses). So, I'd suggest maybe trading one of the "extremely" adjectives for "extraordinarily", "exceptionally", "especially", or "immensely" (I'm totally reading these off of a thesaurus too, btw... I'm definitely not a walking thesaurus either).

And Gah! I love her too! I was so upset because, for the longest time, I wasn't liking her reference sheet. I've gotten much better at proportions, and her old sheet was my biggest proof of that, haha!

Thank you so much! (btw, if you're curious about her old ref, here it is ) Just about everything has been updated! Even the colors have been tweaked a bit! Basically, I applied the skills I've learned over the year to make her look more accurate to how I draw her now! I'll be doing the same for everyone else, so get ready for everyone to have better proportions XD
Ooo, they totally should! Her best friend is a tailor and that's where she first got her love for stitching! I'm sure she'd love to hear how Faith stitches! :D

Oh goodness, I feel the same. I know I was proud of it when I made it but it was so long ago! But yes!! Seeing all the subtle changes side by side really makes me happy! And Ah!! I'm so glad you see all the subtle changes! I'm most happy with her face now. Her old face just doesn't look right, and now she actually looks 18! My second favorite change is the layout change.
Oh totally! It'd be refreshing since she doesn't talk to many people about her hobby (she's worried that she'll be taken less seriously if she's a knight who likes to sew) She'd love to see the jester hats, omg! Heck, she'd probably wanna learn how to make her own! Mostly, she's been doing patchwork and embroidery since she doesn' have much access to fabrics at the moment

Good good! Though, Ari does prefer sparing with wooden swords to prevent anyone from getting seriously injured. (Also avoiding head strikes unless they have helmets) She also wouldn't wanna scar a friend of hers!

Oh totally! She'd be fine with that, especially with the point of practicing against multiple weapons. She actually tries to get Val to spar with her since he has an assortment of knives and also combat experience (unlike the others) and while he'll sometimes oblige, he's not the biggest fan of the bruising, so it's only every once in a while

Rowan usually has a good supply of something similar on him that he gets from the apothecary, Fey-Anna! Unfortunately though, Val is very anti-magic, so he refuses to use it and just deals with the bruises as they come only letting them heal naturally...

Yeah! It's an aversion he's had for a loong time. He's fine with other people using it (though he will poke fun at them) but he refuses to use it himself, and there are a few reasons for it. This doesn't mean he wont complain about bruises and such, cause he definitely will, haha! But if someone needs a bit of magic, especially to help with pain, he understands.
There are a few bits of magic he does like, though, and that's magic for shows and entertainment! Doesn't mean he'll at all learn the magic, but he does actively enjoy it!

Awh, that's a super kind offer! Val isn't one to talk about his feelings much, but he's pretty open about his biggest reason for his dislike of magic (the only reason I'm not saying is so I can save it for the comic. It's not a big secret, but I'd like to hold it, haha! I have hinted about it before though, and you'll see a bigger hint in his bio when I update his ref!)
Oh, he'd love to see her ice magic! Zak has ice magic, but he rarely uses it when he doesn't need to, so never for fun things.. Also, yesss!! Ice skating at any time! Oh, he'd have to run home and get his skates! Or he could craft his own, though they wouldn't be as good as the ones he bought XD

Oh, he wouldn't mind at all! As long as he has something to occupy his mind, he's good! Even just keeping the fire going and collecting firewood would be enough for him, especially if he gets to ice skate afterward!

Then he'd absolutely try his best to do so! Val knows a ton of abilities just from figuring it out by himself, so the method he usually teaches with is giving the other person the same chance to just figure it out on their own, while he tries to make sure they don't hurt themself. But new skills are always great! Val tries his best to learn as many skills as he can just so he can keep himself entertained no matter where he is, so he likes giving others the same opportunity! As for the warm meals, he absolutely accepts!! He's always a sucker for free food!
And Oh! A dance on the ice sounds so lovely!! I always admired ice skating duos! Ah the fun on ice, I can see it now~

Yeah! Trial and error is how he was taught everything, like the fact that you need a guard when firing a bow or else you'll get burned. Sure it may hurt, but that's when you learn best!

Absolutely! That's why you never put your hand on a stove twice after all! While Val won't be teaching you much, what you do learn will stick, so the method works! Though any tricks would be impossible to learn from him. He couldn't put the action into clear words, so he'd just repeat the action in hopes you understand from just watching XD
YES! No one expects the quiet one to pull the tricks, and that's ABSOLUTELY what makes them the most dangerous >:3c
