Description
So, here's the idea I have for Tarantulas. Most of the insectoid transformers (with the exception of Rhinox, as he is not an insectoid) will have multiple somethings, be they arms or legs. MOST. I'm leaving room for error.Tarantulas is of the multi-legged variety. I based his lower half off of a silverfish, which are little crustaceous arthropods that creep me out.
Transformation rundown:
All of his robot mode legs assemble from his spider abdomen. His arms are part of the cephalothorax, and his head is tucked into his body. His spider arms wrap around an internal ribcage to form more... ribs, I guess? I unno.
Additional weaponry / cool shit:
He has eye-spots all over his body, which keep watch for any who might intrude in his secret lair, be they Maximal or Predacon. His lower set of arms double as a tool kit. The forearm pops open to reveal a tool kit consisting of "poison" darts (housing malware), sonic "scramblers" (disk-shaped magnets that emit sonic pulses that scramble the sensors of anyone other than him) and an immobilizing energy web. SPIDER-MAN! KSSHT!
Backstory: Tarantulas seemed to be one of the Predacons to join Megatron in stealing the Golden Disk, though in reality, he was placed there specifically as a double agent for the Tripredicus Council, who wished to orchestrate a conflict between the Maximals and the Predacons for undisclosed reasons. On board the Darksyde (the Predacon's stolen ship), he acts as their science officer, happily creating horrible mutations and experimenting on unwilling subjects to further the Predacon cause. However, left to his own devices, the deceitful spider's loyalties will shift to those of the Council, who want him to advance their own goals. His many eyes watch his back for him like security cameras as he ticks away in his secret lair, with Megatron none the wiser...

Assuming his beast mode concept isn't quite finished, I'd suggest making his legs a little more beefy and work on there articulation, fuse the head more to the thorax, and of course give him big-ass fangs, just so he'd look more like an actual tarantula.

Oh, the beast mode wasn't drawn to a reference. I just drew it to give me a vague idea of where everything would end up going. I usually find a photo and draw the final beast mode over it.

If I were directing, I'd try to get as many of the original voice actors back in the saddle as I could. Tarantulas would be voiced by whoever voiced him in the show.

...Could you tell him to dial it down a bit?
I'm rewatching some eps now, and him Terrorsaur and Scorponok have collectively given me a giant headache.

If I am ever chosen to direct this as a film, I will indeed talk to the voice actors about toning down their colorful performances.

Remember though, Voice actors do only what voice DIRECTORS tell them to do. So Susan Blu must've told Scott Mcneil to drink two liters of coffee before going into the studio...

If you don't my asking, would Tarantulas be considered Blackarachnia's father?

Probably. He's conceited enough.
