Description The latest design from the Barrett-Beretta-Taurus syndicate, the AxC is chambered for the 8.94mm Select rifled projectile and utilizes modern fuel-injected explosive propulsion technology. The weapon is factory smartchipped and is fully electronic in operation (with backup manual controls in case of systems failure). The pistolgrip is molded from shape-memory materials activated by the hand's body heat and is customizable through the smartchipping interface.

Cooked this up in Photoshop. It's a Beretta PX4 Storm modified to be some near-future weapon. Caseless for sure.

Yes! THAT's the gun I based this on. Thank you for reminding me! I added that info to the description.

It's nice and smooth looking, but if it's supposed to be caseless, there shouldn't be an extractor.

Maybe... but what about in case of a jammed, dud round?

In which case, where is the ejection port? Unless it's either a semi caseless round or some sort of design we haven't seen yet in the real world, there'd be nothing on a caseless round for the extractor to engage. I like the pistol quite a bit, it has a very Shirow Masamune look to it, but I just don't understand it's operation as presented.

I'll confess I don't actually know what an extractor is. I thought you were referring to the ejection port. See, my flaw is that I thing guns are cool, but I'm not much of an expert on their inner workings. :-/

That horizontal bar in front of the safety switch is the extractor. The extractor engages on the rim of a brass cartridge in order to pull it from the firing chamber during the recoil of the action. Sometimes, the extractor is internal, but on the Beretta Px4 pistol which this has at its base has an external extractor.

With any current fully caseless ammunition, there is no rim for an extractor to grab hold of. For reference, take a look at the H&K G11. I was a prototype caseless assault rifle that Germany briefly experimented with before they adopted the G36.

I LOVE the G11. I was so pissed when it showed up in Demolition Man as some kinda ray gun.

Thanks for the explanation of the extractor. I do know that caseless ammo has no rim, of course. So anyway, I don't know what the answer is on my design... perhaps it just LOOKS like an extractor? Maybe it's some other device... a battery for the electrical firing system? Or a component of smartchipping? I dunno...

Well, if that's the case, maybe it could be the electrode itself that provides the shock. It'd be in about the right spot.

Looks like something Magnum Research would turn out. Like a combination of a Jericho 941 and an FN 5-7.

Yeah. I don't remember what gun (or guns) I originally used, sadly.
