Well, what started out as a simple line and color test...turned into this...I don't even know how...SPARTAN IIs, Fred-104 and Linda-058, from Halo...drawn in the style of the new 'G.I. Joe: Renegades' TV show. I liked the designs I came up with for them, so I wanted to try them in color. I also wanted try an alternate (i.e. easier) outfit.
Linda was just trying to get some peace and quiet at the firing range...until Fred showed up with a rocket launcher. She is not amused.
THIS IS WHY I DON'T DRAW GUNS. EVER.
...It's hard. These are probably still a little too detalied (not to mention horribly inaccurate), but I can try again on the next one.

I don't think the guns are bad at all. The sniper rifle is a tad bit small(it should be longer than the launcher, and taller in some places), and is missing the bolt (the part that chambers the round) and its bipod, but other than that it looks great. The rocket launcher is just a tad bit oversized, but isn't missing any components that I can see.

Yeah, this was my first attempt at drawing guns ever, so I know some stuff is definitely off.

Why does Fred has a beard? because it is out of military regulations...

It's not out of regulations for Special Forces operators, which the Spartan II's count as.

I suppose...though I'm not exactly sure what the UNSC's policy is on facial hair, seeing as Jorge-052 has a mustache.

Well, modern Military Regs OK mustaches, but nix beards and goatees. That said, Special Forces operators (DEVGRU, SFOD-D, SAD/SOG and SAD/PAG teams, etc.) are usually granted more lenience. Now, we've seen other UNSC personnel (like Sgt. Stacker) who have goatees, so it's anyone's guess as to the UNSC's rules on facial hair, but I don't see why someone from FLEETCOM would care if Fred wanted to rock one.

If you think Fred lacks subtlety, try these three on for size, in order:
1. Will-043: Gets way too stabby for most people's taste, likes Energy Sword and Machete WAAAYYY too much.
2. Jorge-052: Seems to have a love affair with his chaingun.
3. Malcolm-053: Apparently was THE demolitions expert of the Spartans, a genius with explosives, could even make a Dirty bomb with fuel rod gun ammo and a frag granade.

I've been wanting to do something with Tom and Lucy for a while, I just haven't quite figured out their character designs yet...need to go though the books again and do some sketches. I'm sure I'll get around to it eventually though.

haha I just relized (after a long stare in amazment) Fred already took a shot, or atleast there's smoke coming out of one the barrels of the launcher! He just blew up all of Linda's targets!

Linda-"Kidding me, well so much for time alone" sighs and starts shooting targets

A lot of people seem to have gotten the same impression from this picture...which is great because something like that scene you just described was exactly what I was going for.

the detail is fine, you just misplaced the bi-pod and you need to lengthen the rifle stock a wee bit longer. AND make the angular hoop in front of the scope bigger and the scope should be kinda boxy as in canon with the game. that's all, i think you got the SPNKr alright though.

Yeah, I liked his look in 'Halo Legends' too. ^^ However, it wasn't how I'd always pictured him and it wasn't accurate to how he's described in the Halo novels (which I consider the most canon). I did give my version of Fred the same facial scar pattern he had in the anime though, because I thought it really suited him.

It's Fred! And Linda! Two of my favourites. I think you did a bang-up job on those guns. Fred's right forearm is a bit squiff, but I drool over his rakish facial hair. So manly....garblagrhgablghrgh....

Inaccurate, my friend you give yourself too little credit, the rocket launcher is (compared to the picture in the halo encyclopedia) damn near perfect and the sniper rifle is only missing the little bi-pod on the front, all in all I'd say this picture is quite excellent.
The only Fred could have made this worse was if he brought a Spartan Laser out then Linda would really have his hide.

Fred:"What? it worked." walks back toe the armory
Linda:"That man has no subtlety." resumes firing until she hears footsteps in the background.
Fred: Aims the Spartan Laser "Now then, lets see what this thing can do"
Linda."..." stares at Fred with a murderous glare.
It is key to note that later that day Fred was found unconscious on the firing range curled up in a ball with a rifle stock shaped bruise on his groin. To this day Fred refuses to go on the firing range while Linda is there.

I know by the time Cortana had an active role, they weren't training, but it's a funny conversation for them to have regardless.
