So, when I was watching the 'G.I. Joe: Renegades' finale, I noticed something familiar about one particular frame of animation...it bore an uncanny likeness to a Halo doodle I had done a few months prior (seen here: [link] vs. [link] )I don't normally like to go back to old drawings, but in this situation, I just had to do it.
Finally got the motivation to knock it out after work tonight. Plus, I just realized that Master Chief and Kelly-087 hadn't gotten a full size picture yet (Jorge-052, Fred-104, and Linda-058 all have one already).This one is certainly not as crisp as the others I've done; I was experimenting a bit with the drawing and coloring. But I still think it's ok.

I LOVE IT! the idea with them looking at Sams empty bunk i gave didnt work out, but i love the color and the looks on their faces says thier a heart beat away from looseing it

Yeah, I know you really wanted that, but in the end this drawing just didn't quite fit that scenario...it's too close up, and they're drawn a lot older here. But it's still a good idea, I might do something like that in the future.

As apathetic as I am about Chief/Kelly, I have to compliment this picture. I just love your style and your uber-clean coloring. Love the...whatever you'd call Spartan "zero suits", and the expressions are just...intriguing. The characters are physically so close but there's this disconnect in their eyes. Or maybe it's just me. I hope it's intentional, because I think it expresses the way Spartan's can't quite feel really well. Lovin' the background and, nice job on the scars. Chief's look painful.

Yeah, I usually try to keep my stuff "ship-free", but every once in a while something just gets out. 
I didn't use Illustrator for this one, so the line consistency is a little off, but more fluid looking (and takes half as long to draw). I'm trying different things to see which aspects of each method I like best. For your Six/Jorge picture I'm trying a combination of both.
I don't think the lightweight body armor that they wear under the armor plating has a technical name, so I just used the term from Metroid.
Glad you like the background...I kind of wanted to add more stuff, but I didn't have time. Simple is usually better anyway though.

I'm sure you're always improving on lines. I'm not really experienced enough to tell I guess, because they look good to me all the time.
lol yeah, the Metroid term works.
I was reading an article in which one of the developers for Halo were saying that Chief was more complex than he seems: he has feelings but isn't okay with having them. I kindof want to write about that. I feel like it has to be considered in Spartan relationships.

Well, when it comes to line, there really isn't a good or bad in my opinion. It's just about using different types of lines to achieve a certain effect. The other "Halo Renegades" pictures I've done were all drawn using Adobe Illustrator, which is very mechanical and precise, with all the lines being the same thickness. This seems to create a crisper, more angular looking drawing. This was drawn quickly in SAI, and no matter how hard you try to be precise, the more organic, hand-done-ness of the line work seems to show through. It's subtle, but the difference is there.
(Did I just write a whole rambling paragraph about line? //art nerd >_>')

As much as I adore this style, I can't really do it myself. I'm trying to get better at the painterly stuff instead...
LOL I do like Spartans so much partially because I wish I was that disciplined and strong.
Chief and Cortana had such a zany relationship in the first game. She drops him on his face on that one Covenant ship near the end! I lol'ed.

Everyone's style is different, and everyone is good at different things. I can't paint digitally to save my life, so I'll just enjoy looking at work by other artists (like yourself) who can. 
Yeah, the tone of the first game is somewhat different than all the others (and it's by far the funniest). But I think that's because at the time they didn't know whether or not they would get to make sequels/expand the universe. Not a big deal though, it's still a great game...and it's still funny to think that the Chief, for how awesome he is, almost nuked all sentient life in the galaxy because he almost activated the Halo without really asking any questions.

The first game is definitely the funniest. I actually played Halo 3 first, so I was so surprised by the different tone. Chief is such a goofy...barbarian. XD

How do you make your lines so smooth and not shakey? (could just be my hand, but still)

I use a Wacom Intuos4 computer drawing tablet, and Paint Tool SAI for most of my line work these days (it does seem to produce smoother lines than Photoshop)...and that's about it.
