This was supposed to be my 1000th deviation but apparently I've passed that already. Which tells me I really need to go clean up my gallery
Pony-drawing-tutorial thing because people have been asking to see my process
Elaborates on this , in that I actually tell people what I'm doing Had to sacrifice quality so it wouldn't turn out as an 8-megabyte .jpg file. If any parts are unclear tell me and I can type it out down here

I haven't tried a full pony animation yet because each frame would be hand-drawn, and I would have to go through this process with each one.

Do you know how to use tweens instead of frame-by-frame? That could speed up the process and make it less tedious

Might i suggest these? www.youtube.com/watch?v=RQlfsG⦠It's Zach Rich's tutorials with flash. If you've got time to spare id definitely watch them. He teaches a lot in a short amount of time considering.

That's using puppets, though
...can tweens fill in frames between hand-drawn keyframes? >_> I've heard rumors at school but I don't see how it could be possible.

i'm not sure.. but i don't think that you need a puppet for tweening. im not sure if your art style would allow puppets, would it? since their movements are so dramatic youd think that would be hard to animate.
as for filling in frames, you might be able to do that, but if you knew what lines would move where then you wouldn't need a puppet, kindof like Egoraptor's style animation (but perhaps not as graphic xD)

That and I have bare minimum knowledge on how to animate with puppets, anyway. We used the Bone tool for an assignment and I almost punched a hole through the screen

hehe, well Im not the best at making smooth lines, takes a good deal of smudging and mixing to get something decent.
but now Im trying to work it out with flash, we are still trying to get to know each other.Β
and yeah layers, both a gift and a curse from adobe. so many soul crushing disappointments happen when you accidentally confuse your layers. Especially when it takes you a good 30 min to realise it D:
