Intriguing! I almost always end up doing pixel work whenever I do some digital art but have never done something solely with pixels. The jump from the third to the final step is ridiculous, though! How in the world did you transition between them? Surely it all can't be anti-aliasing?

xD i never saved the step between there sorry, its just adding more and more details mostly anti aliasing were you make the edges smoother by using the darker or lighter colors

This is a very good tutorial- i can't imagine making pixels this complex- but I have a piece of advice: Your not eliminating "jaggies" as much as you should. Between step two and three you should cleanup your outlines; for example, in the hat, see how the lines overlap and create "jagged" edges? You need to erase that one pixel that creates the overlap, and everything will look much smoother. It's really hard to explain this without visuals, but i hope you get what im saying. Pixels should touch each other on the corners only in most cases.
Just one piece of advice from an amateur pixel artist! ^^ I love how you preserve your style so well in pixel form, by the way.

Do you sketch on a tablet? How much does it cost? (in euros, i guess)
Do you have one of those fancy Cintiqs that are a screen and tablet in one and costs $2000-3000?

We got a pack with a laptop, all the adobe programs and a tablet when we joined school, its not free ofcourse xD have to pay alot of money over a long period

they cost around $100 to $500 i would recommend you not to buy the $100 tablets alright
