but one quick inquiry, if your light source is blue, then would the shadow be orange? Or if your light source was purple, yellow shadow then? Seems kind of odd...

Yes, if you have blue ish light, your shading will be really brown is, which is what orange turns into if you darken it *

at first: your tutorial is great! and you're excellent at explaining those things!
but if i look at red, the complementary color i see on white ground is cyan, not green. this is the reason, that there is a new colorcircle (after KΓΌppers) with 'true' complementary colors (the old one is after Itten)
