Description
One of a series of studies I did of a close friend during the week I spent keeping him company until he died.He was a drawing teacher and a sculptor, and never shied away from difficult subject matter, so I don't think he would have objected to my posting this in the public domain - although for a long time I had my reservations about doing so.
Still, here it is.

Thank you very much. Sorry to take so long to reply to you.
I spent a week there while my friend was dying, and slept at the hospital, so I had lots of time to draw - I guess it's the only way I know how to cope.

No worry about that! that's perfectly fine.
I hope it wasn't bothering to you by receiving such comment from a third-person like me.
And I'm truly sorry for your loss, my deepest condolence.
I wish your beloved late-friend is now an angel and watching over you silently.
Sorry, if I crossed the line.

Heh, thanks dude. It's funny, a colleague and friend of his who came to visit also did a sketch of him about a week before I did, and got a totally different picture out of it - that sort of bright smile sick, tired people get when they're still excited to see you and aware of their surroundings. I've got a copy of it somewhere. By the time I got to drawing him, he was a bit past that point.

it definitely conveys the emotion of it, and its even pretty similar to what i envisioned when you were writing about it. i dont feel theres any reason to have reservation. i think its something that should be felt.
