I was listening to the song "ushba" by Melnitsa, who are a russian folk-rock outfit, pretty obsessively when i drew this.

In the song, the Moon gathers harvests of men by sending them mad and making them fall in love with her. The narrator's lover is one such man, who leaves to follow the Moon. The narrator sings of offering a strong bull as sacrifice to the Moon, so that she might treat her departed darling kindly, and not let him freeze in the cold night sky. She stays up through the nights, spinning and weaving, to remind the Moon that they are sisters, women linked by this craft, imploring her to listen and to treat the man kindly.

She never asks to have him returned.

Only that after her death,she might be allowed to stand behind his right shoulder, there, in the cold night sky.
