Description
For the gable that's going to be drawn here, it'll be on the middle point of the roof- so we need to split the roof in half.Again, there is more than one way of doing this, but here it will be done in part with the "X" method, in part by another.
To get the bottom point of the 1/2 line, I simply drew an "X" on the wall on the right. A straight line going up and down did the rest, and now there is the bottom point on the edge of the roof!
In Fig. 4 we had found Point B, which, since it was found with the help of the "X" on the wall to the left, is on the halfway point on that side. By drawing a line from VP2 to it, and then a line from VP1 to Point D (found courtesy of the "X" shown), we have the center point of that "sub-floor," Point E.
Since the center of that floor would be directly below the center of the peak of the roof, all you have to do is draw a line straight up, and you have the top point of the 1/2 line.
Connect the two points. There you have it!
Now, here it should be mentioned that you could just have easily found the center point of that floor- and thus, the center point of the roof- just by drawing a big "X" on the floor. This was just to show another way of doing the same thing.
And once you had the bottom point of the 1/2 line, you could have drawn an "X" on the roof, and drawn a line from the bottom point through the center of that "X." If the roof was drawn properly, then that should work, too.
You might have an entirely different way of doing this. It doesn't matter how, as long as it does work. That's what matters.
