Some more infos would be nice. The console window e.g. list what happened and can help to solve the problem.
Other infos like used models etc. would be nice too.

It appears written thisΒ Error: Python Script error check console

When you open blender 2.49 you get two windows. The main window and the console.
If an error occurred you can switch to the console window. It give mostly good hints what went wrong.
So it would be good to know what's in the console window.

Shows this

Compiled with Python version 2.6.2
'import site' failed; use -v for traceback
Checking for installed Python ... No installed Python found.
Only built-in modules are available. Some scripts may not run.
Continuing happily

Thanks now I understand I need to download Python

Could be a possible reason, but as far as I remember you didn't need separate python for this script.
If you want to install python anyway, you need the right version for this version of blender. Should be 2.6.2

But what you copied is the default message after opening blender 2.49.
There should be additional information after trying to export and receiving the info to check the console.

Now when I was exporting the template I saw what the error is
name error: global name 'format' is not defined

Sorry, I don't know that error message. Maybe it's a problem of the used models.

You can try to combine the models directly in XPS.

Even if it's a bit late, but Happy new year.

To be honest it's quite some time ago, since I used blender 2.49 for that.

With newer version of blender and the script by johnzero7 I can't remember any greater problems.

Yes I was combining the models so, only it gets a lot of bones depending on the model I use XD

There isn't just one way of doing it.
By the way, you can hide unwanted bones inside XPS and save the model again to keep them hidden.

Grummel83 In reply to Rat-of-the-DarkAges [2017-01-03 15:55:16 +0000 UTC]

Hi, that's not really difficult, select with the right mouse button the part you want to delete and press "del" or x-button.
Now just confirm the popup and it's deleted.

My first attempt worked, but now I keep getting "Python Script Error" when exporting my final product from Blender. Any tips?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Grummel83 In reply to xUndyingLight [2016-09-19 15:21:04 +0000 UTC]

The script error means only that something went wrong and you've to check the console window (the second window which opens with blender).
Can you post a screenshot of the console window, the detailed message can give a hint what went wrong.

I tried to make sure each model qualified to work. Β

Grummel83 In reply to xUndyingLight [2016-09-21 20:11:49 +0000 UTC]

The problem is clear. I see one "big" and three similiar minor problems. These problems aren't really difficult so solve.
Before I start to explain I need to know how familiar you're with blender and topics like armatures and vertex groups.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

xUndyingLight In reply to Grummel83 [2016-09-22 15:14:03 +0000 UTC]

No not really. I know the bare basics for rendering pictures, but not for stuff like this.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Grummel83 In reply to xUndyingLight [2016-09-23 21:23:11 +0000 UTC]

Okay, that makes it no easier. Do you work only with blender 2.49 or with newer version too?
Then let's start with a quick explanation about the big problem. For the posing you need on the one hand an armature (skeleton) which contains all the moveable bones.
On the other hand you need the mesh with vertex groups. The vertex group define which parts of the mesh reacts to the bone movements.
The vertex groups must have the same name as the bones.
Unfortunately the export script makes trouble when the mesh contains vertex groups without a related bone. In this case "unused bone ctr leg ..."
Unless you don't delete those vertex groups, the export will fail.

When you tell me with which blender you can use, I can try to help you.

Actually, messing around with things, I got my intended result. I only used this as a last resort. I usually go the XPS only route for meshmods. Don't know what I did, but I'm good now with my model. Thanks though for offering.Β

Start small. Try with small parts before you start with complete outfits.
That's unfortunately no process you can make immediately.

It should look like this.

Was blender running while you put the files in the folder. If yes restart the programm.

Happy to hear.
It is possible to pose in blender, but I can't explain that in an easy and quick way.
Did you selected the "modify the armature ..." while saving the model in XPS?

You've to extract the content of the download script archive into the ".blender/scripts"-folder of your blender folder.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Tommy-TheDirtDen In reply to Grummel83 [2016-02-17 12:35:57 +0000 UTC]

When I downloaded blender it has no folder to put anything into. Just the blender icon.

Now I'm a bit confused. Did you download the installer version or the archive which you need just to extract somewhere.
This is of course only if you use a windows environment.

For windows you've to take the zip file.
