I have my driver's license, and it has my name on it. If that isn't proof enough, I can always go to the bank and get my birth certificate out of the safety deposit box. And whatever name is on there is legally my name.

I can't believe all these rabid fans failed the obvious fact that you fortunately saw. I've got a piece of paper, as well as two parents to prove what my name is. Heartstrings has a blindbag card, as well as officials from Hasbro to prove it.

Canon to the toy universe sure. Even then, her art is just a recolored Twilight Sparkle and she has a different eye color.

The staff of the show specifically said we can call the BG characters whatever we want unless the day comes where Hasbro truly does name the ponies.
I've called her Lyra for a year and some Sparkle recolor that doesn't even have quite the right colors isn't going to change that for me.

Right. And Heartstrings is the official name for a Twilight Sparkle recolor toy. I'm not going to jump Heartstrings is Lyra train based on it having similar colors (and not even the same shades of color).

Cheerilee's blind bag toy ways just as innacurate, but no-one protested its legitimacy prior to her actually being identified as Cheerilee in the cartoon.

The fandom was already calling her Cheerilee and hardly anyone was calling her anything else. Plus, Cheerilee has more than blindbag toys claiming to be her. She has those toy sets with her on them. and those actually have show accurate Cheerilee art on them.
Speaking of which, never saw blindbag Cheerilee. Another recolor of the mane 6 or something?

A lot of the blindbag pony artwork is inaccurate to the show (including Cheerilee's), because it has to look like the toy, and there are only 6 different molds for blind bag ponies (5 of the Mane 6, plus one of Big Macintosh). Your argument is weak, and it basically boils down to "the fans named this character first, so Hasbro's doesn't count," but the fact of the matter is that Hasbro owns the character, so if they decided to name her Heartstrings it's official. You can still call her Lyra if you prefer it, but it's just a fan nickname, no matter how popular it is.

Where are you pulling this "it has to look like the toy" nonsense? Pinklestia, Luna, Baby Pinkie Pie and a few others destroy that argument flatly. Heck, the fandom is always going on and on about how alot of toys aren't show accurate and there is a vector on the box that makes that fact even more glaring. Why would the blindbags suddenly be different?
I am NOT arguing that Hasbro doesn't count. Where did you get that from? I'm arguing that the Heartstrings toy is way too questionable to undeniably be considered Lyra. I can't even convince my sister they are the same and she isn't even part of the older fandom (she's part of the main demographic). When Hasbro gives a Heartstrings toy with art that actually matches Lyra, then I will accept Heartstrings as her official name. Until then, I see a a recolor TS that could pop up in the show and not be confused for Lyra.

It's a background character made to fill space. I doubt Studio B is going to do anything else with her beyond fill space. Sure she could become the next Derpy, but I doubt we will have more BG characters become active enough that they need a name.
And Hasbro has been making soulless recolor toys for years (and not just with MLP). I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Heartstrings doesn't appear again, or appears with a different name all together.
Who knows what the future holds. But I'm looking at the now and enjoying Lyra.
