Hey I can try!
Actually I might, when I get more time do another journal entry (like I did with these) to see who wanted who in my style. It was fun!
I will definitely do Rachmaninoff on the next round!

Well, Sibelius looks so pissed because he was a drunk, he's daughter died of typhoid fever, he was poor, and the time at Finland was unstable.
That time many composers, artists and such were killed brutally.
And sorry my bad english.

Sibelius looks really pissed off LMAO.
And I actually thought for a second there that Clara Schumann was Rebecca Helferidge Clarke for some reason...

Heh heh.
I drew Sibelius from a painting of him, and he pretty much looks pised off in all his portraits..

No, seriously. Sibelius had a drinking problem.
I actually also heard that he wrote an eigth symphony, but didn't like it (probably because he was either drunk or really self-critical), so he tossed each page into the fire one by one.

Bach looks sweet, just right.
Love Sibelius' intensity.
The Schumanns are perfect...you captured that edgy quality he must have had...And Clara looks so stolid and gentle. (Brahms had the hots for her -- she must have have been lovely). I love her expression. Like, Yeah, so I'm a concert pianist and I've got fifty kids and Joe Brahms won't leave me alone and my husband's insane, and -- I'm here to say a woman CAN have it all!
Sousa is adorable!

Haha thanks. I learned a lot about Schumann and his wifey drawing this. You know, gathering pics and such. And yeah I was aware of the Joe crush. Hehehe. I think he was actually the only woman Joe ever really had feelings for! Makes me wanna find my Joe a wummin!!
Yeah Sousa looked pretty intense in most of the portraits too. I wanted to soften him up a little.
The Clara pic I drew my caricature from--she actually had sort of a little grin like that in it. I liked how that contrasted with his kinda stuffy stolid look...

Well cool beans!
I had to join your Back club. Mendelssohn revived Bach's music, so they're linked, y'know? Plus Bach is too cool by half.

Yeah by Felix's time Bach was pretty much forgotten and someone had to turn the people on to his stuff again! Good thing F was there to do the job!
I need to submit a cartoon of them meeting now--totally!!

Sousa's music makes me want to scream and plug my ears with rocks until the piece is over. Why must cartoony Sousa be so likeable, when his music is such evil? Whyyyy?!
I think Sibelius might be my favorite on this page, though. I know which photo you based that on, and I love the cartoonification of it. Woo, intense Finns! He always /was/ scary-looking.

Yeah I'm not big on marching bands either. In fact, here at the university, they practice [link] .WINDOW.
So I pretty much wanna do what you wanna do when you hear Sousa. Hehe. I haven't listened to him yet, but something tells me I don't want to...
Sibelius WAS scary looking. He looked mean...and sort of nuts. Maybe he was (don't know a consarned thing about him)...

Wow... @_@ Seriously? That's jus' fly... 'cept he looked odd, you say... shucks. ._. Seems like a lot of people WOULD look kind of odd with that 'stache. Take Lud or Felix, for instance. O_O Major oddness. Then again, maybe it's 'cause we know what they look like NOW, and... well, still.

hankinstein In reply to zankaaz [2008-10-06 23:45:38 +0000 UTC]
I just mean he looked odd because it's just unusual to see a stache like that. It sort of...looked like he was wearing a fake one. Odd isn't necessarily a bad thing! It's kind of a fish out of water thing, y'know? A guy with giant sideburns like Felix's would make me do a double take as well...it's just not a common thing, as it would have been back in their time.
I think mowhawk haircuts look odd too, but they really work for some people. Hehe. Still. not something you see real often so it sticks out a lot.

Point given. ^_^ Very true, very true... if we were living back then, I bet we'd be swooning over such 'staches and sideburns. You dun mess with facial hair.

M.r Schumann looks very dashing here. It's a shame the poor guy went mad. *huggles Schumann*Bach looks lovable, and Sibelius looks scary. Is it my faulty memory, or did Sibelius play 'cello?

You know I don't remember. I don't know much about Sibelius. But he does look crazed!
I didn't realize Schumann went mad though. Wow.
I always read that Bach was laid back and real humble, so I tried to convey that here.
Thanks!

Schumann was a manic-depressive, which can be seen if you track the dates of his compositions - you get periods that are mad rush of music (manic) and periods where he didn't write much at all (depressive). He ended up hallucinating, paranoid and depressed and threw himself in the Rhine, but survived and ended up living out the rest of his days in the lunatic asylum...
Bach was an alright bloke. I like him. I like playing his music too, nice and organised - not like the Serialist stuff I'm studying for college. ><
All I know about Sibelius is Finlandia.

So he gave up it..He said people are the scariest thing..
Bach looks very cute! *hugs Bach* really like a 'water'.. really.
