This... is a masterpiece. Probably the best Snape face I've ever seen, and the eyes should be showcased in the Museum of Awesome. I love they way that, even though his eyes hold all the sadness in the world, his brows are still drawn together in a glaring fashion. His lips, at first glance, are pouting, as though trying not to tremble, but upon closer inspection I realized they look more like they were trying to contain a howl of rage followed my large amounts of profanity. The lack of background makes him look ghostly and haunting and just generally amazing. This is epic to the max, and incredibly beautiful.

I salute you.

Thanks! Hahaha, he has an intense gaze in my mind's eye.... which actually makes me sympathetic to Moody's paranoia. lol

Yeah, true enough. Even though he looks more desperately sad here...

Yeah. Yeah, he does. :sniffle: But I always felt a sharp undercurrent to his sadness, like the danger of a wounded animal, looking for its chance to fight and claw free. He never went down easily.

He wouldn't be the bravest man Harry ever knew if he did, would he?

Nope, that he would not. You hit that one on the head. (Metaphorically. Although, now that we're speaking in mental images... ouch! Moody! Cut it out!)

Now I have a mental image of Moody chasing Snape (in his lovely gey night shirt)along a Hogwarts corridor!

How can anyone think of Snape as a mere "git" when looking at that bleak, desolate expression? There is no hope, there is no meaning, there is no human attachment. There is only duty, and guilt, and suffering. And then you die in the dirt.

If only I didn't have to ignore the foot-long neck!

Maybe if Moody was willing to cover me, and Madam Pomfrey was standing ready.... And Dumbledore had told him specifically to endure it, for Lily's sake... and there was a secure dementor/auror guard....
Maybe not. Ha ha!

I feel ya. IF (and that's a big if) they give him the scenes he deserves!! I've been severely disappointed so far in how much Snape they feel appropriate to leave out of the story.

Fayzbub In reply to HapticMimesis [2010-07-06 22:48:31 +0000 UTC]

Beautiful picture! You've got exactly how I imagine his defensive expression to look, overlaid with sulleness to protect himself.

And I agree about how they cut scenes in the movies: my daughter and I read the books, but my husband didn't. He still comes to the HP movies with us, but we have to fill him in afterwards about the backstory that is always getting left out.

From his pov a lot is incomprehensible because of inadequate editing. For instance, he had no idea who the group of boys (the Marauders) were, and why they were hassling the other kid (who he didn't identify as Severus!) He didn't even get why that scene was included, yet as all HP canon-fans know, it's integral to the story as a whole.

Thank you! It's too bad that they felt it was appropriate to cut the MOST IMPORTANT parts of the story. But, I suppose they had to make room for burning the Burrow and awkwardly tying Harry's shoelace somehow...

I too dislike the lack of Snape. The Half Blood Prince should have been more of his movie than it was. :/ That would suck if they left out all the information contained in his memories like they did in HBP. I'll still cry though. DX
