Description
What do we learn from mythology? That all-female aquatic species resembling women are DANGEROUS.#124, Jynx, the human-like PokΓ©mon who turned purple due to resembling a large black woman, which is illegal.*
I went with pitch black skin and a more eerie feel though. I'm pretty sure the larger lady at the back is the dominant of the group, and that there's little hinting at human legs beneath that "dress" is deliberate.
[Not exactly finished but I think I'd be better off restarting from scratch if I want it to look much better...]
* Maybe the issue was more that she was an animal resembling a person but Mr Mime is just as human-like and he wasn't changed to an inhuman colour. At the very least, much as the colour change may have stopped people complaining, I'm not sure it was the best way to deal with whatever issues Jynx's design raised.

Water spirits are often pretty (be they male, female, or animals) as well as dangerous, perhaps to reflect how deceptively inviting rivers, oceans, and such can be? Sparkly and refreshing with a risk of drowning!

The woman who complained said Jynz was reminiscent of a drag queen or something like that. I was thinking opera singer when I first saw Jynx. It's also the same woman who complained about Mr.Popo having large red lips.

You'd think she'd otherwise be a little more concerned by the noticeable lack of black people in anime, rather than trying to rid anime of anything resembling black people's old visual stereotypes...

There was this video on YouTube of a big tough black guy having a voice that did not fit him. At all. And yes, it was from an anime. Kinda funny though.
And isn't there another black character in DBZ who looks like a boxer? In the Japanese dub, he's easy to understand. But in the English dub, it's hard to understand him. I wonder if she noticed this too.

Personally I always preferred the black skin, it just seems to work better with the rest of their colour.

You're completely right, a large black woman complained about Jynx looking like a large black woman, saying Pokemon was racist and degrading toward black people.

I... I don't know. To be honest, yes, some of my friends and I did make jokes about jynx's appearance, but come on. To actually get offended by it? I'm white (possibly French), and Mr. Mime isn't offensive to me.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say she wasn't a PokΓ©mon fan in the first place.
People often try to play the "offended" card to ban things regardless of whether or not it's actually offensive, I doubt she was made HAPPY by the colour change.
