Description I thought this idea was just interesting enough to merit being uploaded separately from the sketch dump (though not enough to stop it going straight into Scraps, because clearly rushed to this stage and still unfinished).

Still, I haven't seen anyone else bring up either the parallels between Celestia losing her sibling to the darkness and Tirek losing his to the light, and nor have I see anyone do anything suggesting that, hey, while Tirek was definitely evil, losing his brother's support clearly shocked and upset him. Boo, family arguments!

(Non-cartoony colouring is hard, no wonder I always give up on it these days! ...Maybe I should try doing just greyscale again sometime...)

...I don't think I have every read the phrase "lost to light".

Usually being "dark/evil" also means that if their family turns on them they just become angry and call them "weak" or "foolish" or something, and that's that, ties cut.

The idea of Tirek demanding an apology from his brother seems kind of odd.

It's definitely not the usual portrayal of it, but that's because we tend to see protagonists who are good, or "bad" protagonists who become good. Lots of character's in Celestia's place of seeing someone they care go to "the dark side" (and often regaining them), but very few dark characters who actually seem hurt to see someone they care about change sides. Usually the truly bad characters are portrayed as being unable to care about anyone, so the moment they see their friend/family change sides they either change sides too or prove they're truly evil by instantly treating the traitor as just another enemy.

However, the way Tirek talked about his brother and the betrayal makes me think he's one of the rare examples of an evil character who was really hurt by the actions of his partner in crime. Rather than realising he's in the wrong, though, Tirek seemed to take the route of feeling betrayed and bitter and seemed to still feel those emotions long after the event.

I tried to keep the body language here keeping an accurate reflection, with both the characters in the "light" being the ones reaching out and trying to maintain contact even though Scorpan's the one who left Tirek. The "darkness" here is more of a social isolation, which Luna entered into and Scorpan exited from.
