I wouldn't go so far as to say I liked Rainbow Rocks, but it wasn't bad: Better than the first film and HIPPOCAMPUS SIRENS!
Looked great in their pretty book illustrations AND in the hulking projection form!Song from the depths...

I'm inclined to think that the "sirens" weren't a species but specifically those three hippocampi who had the gems and learnt to feed on bad emotions. That way it allows for the species to still be about!

Ah, I've not heard much outright dislike for the film! Was that mostly because it was, at its core, a film about high school kids forming bands, or more specific things?

It was more specific things. When it comes to shows that involve humans, I'm a stickler for realistic portrayals of the characters (for example, what band is dumb enough to set up right on top of a trap door?). Plus the overall plot felt like it was recycled from other movies.

That scene was pretty pointless, too, since they didn't really talk about it with anyone after. Might as well have had them locked in their dressing room, which would help explain why Rarity had clothes there. Then again, her just grabbing the closest clothes to hand would explain why she suggested those outfits.
