Description Harmonious Element
Strength: +0
Magic: +0
Abilities: Form Boost, Combination Boost, Summon Boost

This keyblade symbolizes the power of friendship. Its passive abilities boost all friendship-related powers.

When the Heartless invaded Equestria, Twilight Sparkle and her friends attempted to use the Elements of Harmony to hold off the attacking force. During the battle, Princesses Celestia and Luna presented Twilight Sparkle with an ancient keyblade that had found its way to their world long ago, and had been instrumental in forging the original Elements of Harmony. Twilight proved herself worthy, and wielded the keyblade alongside her Element of Magic in battle. Unfortunately, it was not enough: the Elements of Harmony protected the six long enough for them to be witness to the collapse of their entire world, until even that failed beneath the Heartless' relentless assault, casting the six into the corridors of darkness. As they fell through the darkness, Twilight's keyblade protected her while the Elements of Harmony transformed the other five into summon gems to protect their hearts from the never-ending corruption of the darkness. The strength of their friendship transformed the Elements of Harmony into a keyblade for Twilight to wield, the Harmonious Element. Now, armed only with her keyblade, her wits, her magic, and the five gems that bear her friends' sleeping hearts, Twilight Sparkle is on a quest to restore Equestria to its former state…

So, yeah. The finished version of this ([link] ), coupled with a story to justify its existence. Yes, this crossover has happened several times before in fanfiction, but the two universes really are a perfect fit for one another. Kingdom Hearts and My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic are two series built around the concept of the Power of Friendship, and arguably best exemplify its power. I have an idea for a much less depressing and downer crossover, which I might try to draw at some point. Or find someone to draw it, anyway.

So, behind-the-scenes stuff. I'm very proud of this, because I did this entirely with a program I've never used on the computer before, SketchBookPro, and I think it came out great for what is basically the first time I've ever done something like this. Could it be better? Of course it could, but I had a lot of fun designing it, and would love to do something like this again sometime. Yeah, it went incredibly slowly all things considered, but I still managed to do all of this in one day, which I am very proud of.

Design-wise, this is of course made from the pieces of the Elements of Harmony. However, I'm very proud that A) I managed to use every piece, and B) I only had to make one new piece. That new piece is the handle, which is designed to look like a bit so that Twilight can more comfortably hold it in her mouth. That's also why I didn't have the second handguard on the backside, despite it being on the concept art. Another reason I did that was because I used all ten of the "necklace pieces" to actually make the keyblade, and didn't have two extras for the backside. And, um, the teeth is the tiara, and the chain is the extra fiddly bits that hold up the star on Twilight's tiara. And I only have a vague idea as to what this would look like from the front…

And, um, other stuff. For those who do not know, four of the six summons (Simba, Dumbo, Bambi, and Mushu) in the original Kingdom Hearts were based on summon gems, which were created when a being with a strong heart was on a world destroyed by the Heartless. Instead of fading away or whatever usually happens, they became a summon gem, able to briefly resume their forms and assist Sora in battle. I feel justified in the Mane Five becoming summon gems because, honestly, who'd have stronger hearts than the embodiments of five of the Elements of Harmony? Plus, I assume the elements would protect them as best as they could. I do know that summon gems are not a part of the keyblade, and that the abilities mentioned here are from KH2, but, well, I felt it was justified, because all of those abilities are tied into teamwork and friendship. A weapon like this is probably in the range of keyblades like the Keyblade of People's Hearts or the X-Blade: insanely powerful and unique weapons that fall outside of the normal Keyblades of Light and Darkness.

Oh, and really quickly, powers/attacks for the five:
Applejack: a purely physical fighter who deals powerful headbutts and kicks to enemies.
Fluttershy: Summons hordes of butterflies that distract enemies and heal Twilight.
Pinkie Pie: Uses her fourth-wall breaking powers to appear behind enemies and stun them with balloons and party favors. Can also summon a party cannon.
Rarity: Uses her magic to summon gems that do small amounts of damage to all enemies in the area.
Rainbow Dash: high-speed flyer that rams into enemies and sends them flying

So, um… yeah. Sorry about that, it went on for a bit longer than I originally thought. Thanks for reading and looking!

This was close to what i had in mind for a Keyblade based on the Mane 6 (Though there's a huge gap of differences.) Also i see i wasn't the only one who would that "Harmonious Element" would be appropriate.

Ah, right. I got distracted by the Ratchet & Clank Collection and have kind of stopped playing around the Pinocchio world, so I haven't seen Counterpoint in action yet.

I feel the same way. To me both of these franchises go hand in hand to make an epic story. So far the only fic that I'm really loving is Friendship is the Key. But your prologue in the description sounds just as good as Friendship is the key. That is an amazing keyblade by the way ^_^

Thank you very much. I don't have any plans to write a fanfic or crossover, but I wanted to come up with a justification for how the Elements of Harmony could become a keyblade, since they seem to be immensely powerful magical artifacts.

Hmmm...I guess it's up to you!
I'm trying to figure out what to do next...
Zelda, or commissions? ...I should do commissions, but I haven't played Zelda in at least a week.
Decisions, decisions...

HaroldPotter In reply to Nyaasu [2012-02-17 21:58:08 +0000 UTC]

Commissions, then Zelda. A) it makes for happier customers, B) it brings us closer to me commissioning YOU.

Also, I will definitely at some point see how you do with a fight scene. Roxas v Sora is the most obvious answer, but Ventus v Vanitas could be fun too…

Well, I should point out that I do my best work in the early evening/night, so I usually do my gaming during the day. x3

For some reason, until about 6PM, my ADD is too bad to focus on ANYTHING, especially art. xD

Also, not sure how I'd handle a fight, even my dog fights kinda suck xD

And yet, you can play video games…

Swords don't have to be clanging, it can be the windup as the two foes glare at each other across the space, staring across at each other, weapons at the ready as the music swells…

I really wish the BBS soundtrack was cheeper, that music f'ing rocked. And… um… how screwed would I be, if I wanted to play BBS Final Mix in America? Knowing that I barely speak/read Japanese?

Nyaasu In reply to HaroldPotter [2012-02-17 22:14:39 +0000 UTC]

LOL Barely, trust me, the plot is usually just...whizzing right past my head. x3 I have to FORCE myself to even sit there and pay attention.

I don't know why my brain is so....HECTIC during the day. It's annoying. @_@

How much is the BBS soundtrack? Do they sell it on iTunes? I used to buy all my SquareEnix music from there, and it was always cheaper than the physical CDs. Of course being a collector, I now regret spending the money on something that doesn't really exist, but it was the convenience that drew me in. xD Now I try to avoid digital albums and be patient enough to wait for the physical ones to arrive at my door. x3

HaroldPotter In reply to Nyaasu [2012-02-17 23:32:05 +0000 UTC]

That would explain why you play Kingdom Hearts for the slashy stabby pokey, not the complex metaphysical questions of existence and the bonds between people.

And no, iTunes doesn't have the soundtracks. I wish they did. I'd have to buy the complete collection of 358/2 Days/re:coded/BBS off of Amazon, and the cheapest price there is about 70 bucks. And I really only want the BBS music, because that music was AMAZING.

And I'm really starting to wish I'd stuck to my Japanese class. Then I could play the Final Mixes, and I'd be happy. :<

Amazon = NO.
DON'T DO THAT. xD
Never buy ANYTHING ORIGINATING IN JAPAN from AMAZON.
The "middle man" there is a douchebag.

Japanese CDs are too expensive on Amazon, and too bootleg on Ebay.
You have 2 awesome options I am pleased to present to you.

Play-Asia has it for $50, [Linkie-poo: [link] ] which is still on the expensive side if you ask me, but Play-Asia, though based in Hong Kong, the land of bootlegs, is 100% legit, and it's where I buy a lot of my crap.

Your second option, MY PERSONAL FAVORITE, is CD Japan, who has it for the lovely and decent price of $45. [link] For TODAY, anyway. You see, CDJapan's prices fluctuate each day as the market opens, because you are not paying a set USD price, you are paying in the Yen equivalent! And since that changes each day, you can kind of gamble, if you chose, and watch the prices go up and down. xD

Also, CD Japan's legit too, no chance of bootlegs there!
AND, if you are a member, you get points (yen credits) for everything you buy, and it TOTALLY adds up. x3 I buy all my super expensive DVDs from there and then get huge discounts on the smaller things, like that single I bought the other day.

Maybe I should make a journal about this...NO ONE should be buying Japanese items on Amazon, because they are ridiculously expensive. x3 And of course not on Ebay either, EVERY DAMN CD ON THERE IS FAKE, FAKE, FAKE.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

HaroldPotter In reply to Nyaasu [2012-02-18 01:11:09 +0000 UTC]

Heheh. I will save those links and do some buying later.

Journals are good things, especially for advice. Truth be told, I DO buy models on Amazon (or did), but that's because shipping prices from Japan was a pain in the ass.

Also, I totally know the next keyblade I wanna design. Unfortunately, it's not a personal one themed for me.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Nyaasu In reply to HaroldPotter [2012-02-18 02:42:51 +0000 UTC]

Oh, do the Amazon items ship locally? THAT makes a ton of sense then, but they are still pretty pricey. For smaller items, I'd say go with Play-Asia and CDJapan - larger items seem to be a good idea to buy on Amazon, if the shipping is local. That kind of explains the price jump. x3

Is it a commission or something? x3 The keyblade, I mean.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

HaroldPotter In reply to Nyaasu [2012-02-18 02:55:15 +0000 UTC]

I think so. Not sure, but, really, let's be honest: anything from Japan is going to be hideously expensive, no matter who you buy from.

And no, I mean, this keyblade is designed after a setting, rather than being themed after me as a personal keyblade. Like, one made for me as if I had a keyblade. Like the Fresh Breeze or Earthshaker.

Nyaasu In reply to HaroldPotter [2012-02-18 03:17:28 +0000 UTC]

HaroldPotter In reply to Nyaasu [2012-02-18 03:19:52 +0000 UTC]

Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha, a series I am a HUGE fan of for the AWESOME magic fights (though I am not a fan of how the adorable relationship between Nanoha and Yuuno was shafted for the lesbianism that came out of nowhere in my opinion). I'm going to call it the "Raging Heart," themed after Nanoha's "Raising Heart" device (the joke being that Raising and Raging are spelled the same way in Japanese, and there's still some confusion over how it's properly spelled). And once more, I should be able to do it using nothing more than the parts already used in the Device.

Very nice. I've never heard of that show. x3 But, I think the name is brilliant. Japanese puns rule. x3

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

HaroldPotter In reply to Nyaasu [2012-02-18 03:41:40 +0000 UTC]

There's an even better one. The original name is, of course, "Mahou Shoujo," Magical Girl. However, Mahou can also mean "Demon Cannon," hence, "Demon Cannon Girl." And given that Nanoha is a magical girl who specializes in long-range attacks that would be more suited to a giant robot show…

Here's a clip from the third show, StrikerS, to demonstrate Nanoha's way of solving problems:

Nanoha makes a lot of things look silly. But yeah, it's a great show. The second one, A's, is probably the best, with lots of interesting conflicting characters and such sympathetic antagonists that they actually become good guys by the end.

You need someone to help you keep track of the plot.

"Okay, so, what do we need to do with the Ganon guy?"
"… kill him."
"Really? Okay."
"It's not like you've had to do that in every other game he's appeared in…"
"Wait, Ganon's in other games?!"
