Description
I wanted to call this "Scroll making for fun and profit" but Deviantart limits how long the titles can be.Anyway, I seem to be getting a very good response (and sales) with these scrolls, so here's how I do it.
Enjoy!

I usually allow it to dry overnight before adding the Mod Podge, but if you're in a hurry you can bake it in the over (under 450 degrees, so it won't burn) for about 10 mins. Be warned though it won't look as "natural."
Usually it won't smell unless you use something smelly, like say whorchester sauce or soy sauce or something. With just coffee or tea to stain it usually there is no smell, and after the mod podge is applied there is no odor at all.

Thanks ^^
I what I meant by 'how long will it last', I should have asked if it crumbles, fades, or something like that quickly...
I will be trying this very soon though. Great work!

It should last forever, if you take care of it. It has the consistency of worn leather afterwards.

Excellent tutorial! I definitely must try this. I was never fond of setting the edges on fire either.

HOLY FCKIN' WOW.
I LOVE THIS TUTORIAL. YOU ARE A GENIUS!
Though, I have a SLIGHT suggestion. When you apply modge podge, brush it on in one direction (horizontally) and then when applying a second layer/to smooth it out, brush again (vertically). The 'checkerboarding' kind of brushing will make it so that when you look at the light reflection, there should be a few, maybe NONE, of those brushmarks to be seen.
But either way; I would have NEVER thought to do any of this if I wanted to get a scroll to look super neat. Wow. Thanks for sharing your secrets! I know what I want to try and do in the future :]
Great great GREAT job man!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great tutorial! Fantastic results!
Is the scroll still flexible enough to be rolled-up?

Yup! However I wouldn't leave it like that for long periods of time, as modge-podge covered objects have a tendency to stick to other objects that have it.

This is very cool and quite informative. A quick question, would something like ground tea leaves (canned loose tea for example) but another good choice during the staining stage?

I haven't tried tea leaves, but that is something I've read online in other tutorials. I supposed you'd want to use a dark tea.
