Description
This is a step-by-step guide to making a base texture layer for water. It helps if you already have water made and want to add some fluid detail to it. Because by itself, it will still look artificial without ripples/splashes and distortion of objects inside it.This Example - is a finished image of mine where this guide was used to good effect. There's a lot to consider when blending this guide into your own work.

I'm not having an english Photoshop so this sentence were a bit strange to me: turn on layer 2 and set the blending mode to screen

I have no idea what other languages use to describe these modes. I can only explain this in English.

I can't find Chrome or Adjustments and I'm using Gimp. Is there an equivalent to these steps?

my knowledge of Gimp is very vague. I wouldn't know how to follow this tutorial for another program.

Currently I don't use Photoshop, but this will help a lot if I ever get photoshop and learn how to used it

i don't understand the Layer>New>Layer from background step every time i try it, the actual background layer disappears and I'm only left with layer 2. and i can't seem to find the Adjustments>Layers anywhere! sry, I'm new to photoshop

Isn't there a "colorize" checkbox in the right bottom above the preview checkbox?
