Description It's always a pleasure to make medieval stuff, but when I have the opportunity to forge a sword, now that's one of the greatest challenges and greatest of joys a smith can have
I forged both of 5160 with iron accessories. The falchion is 76 cm long and just a few grams over 1 kg. The dagger is 42 cm long.

This set is very alluring. I would love to own these! Part of their charm, is how they look nicely crafted, yet quite rustic at the same time. Nice work!

Thanks a lot!
I wanted them to look as real as possible. That's why I used forced patina on them
If you wish i would gladly make you a similar set. It would be 450 euro.

I`m still browsing your gallery. I am certain these are worth what you ask for them. But I have to weigh my options which ones i would like. My preference is somewhat fringe to most, I can guess, but money is not a common commodity from where I'm standing. Expect to hear from me, though. I do plan on getting some of your work!

Sure, no problem, I understand all too well, we are neighbors after all and I guess the situation must be similar in both countries
Take your time, the price will stand for any of the pieces you asked about.

OmG it must be so cool to be a smith, when someone asks you what do you like to do and you say. Im an actual blacksmith you know.
Question, your swords can be actually used or they are just for ornamentation?Β

Well, my mother always wanted me to be a man in a suit, sitting in an office all day doing nothing, with clean hands. I tried it, but I didn't work for me. It was too boring, and the 184 phone calls a day just drove me crazy. Plus I felt useless.

So one day I had enough, and thought to myself why not quit and do what I really want? So I did.

Now I only have one annoying man to answer to, ME!Β

It has its ups and downs (I don't have a regular income and such) I depend mostly on luck, but I like it. Though my mom is still angry with me, because I became a dirty worker instead a guy with white gloves (which she always wanted me to be). Β

Nah, it ain't that costy. If you buy a full piece (I meanΒ the whole skin of a cow ) that it is between 150-200 euro, it is 15-20 euro/kg. That is enough for many sheaths.

Armor is tricky, weapons are are easier. But I can hardly teach you here with 1-2 comments It takes time, mostly your time to experiment your own methods

If you want to get started there's a humorous older gentleman that runs a channel on youtube called EpicFantasy. He'll teach you the very basics of how to make a knife from start to finish both forged and stock removal (though he often uses O-1 steel which is generally expensive, I'd start out with 1095 or scrap, springs and old files work just fine). It's relatively inexpensive to start too, a forge needs to be little more than a hole in the ground with some coal and some airflow and a cast off piece or broken headstone from a monument company makes for a halfway decent anvil at little to no cost.

I wish i could but i don't got that kinda of money though i would like to know what kind of metal you used on them since i'm hoping to start making my own!Β

hellize In reply to Cupcakemix15108 [2014-02-18 07:20:47 +0000 UTC]

okay, I understand

for these large blades I use simple 5160, but you can use any kind of spring steel, they are all very good material for big choppers like this.Β

have fun with the hammering!
