There might be some people out there that have fought Evrae Altana legitimately. I am not one of those troopers. xP
Yeah, undeads in Final Fantasy games are one of the funniest enemies to fight. Most of the time, you can just cast healing magic on them or use raising items/abilities, and POOF!, they're done. Evrae Altana was my favorite, though. Two Phoenix Downs, and a fight that's supposed to be super intricate and difficult, since you don't have healers nor casters, turns into the most hilarious underwater fight in that game.

I hate the fact that I never thought if this. But I don't remember it being hard to take down either way.

A Boss that's weak to healing but the best healer in the party can't swim. Missed comedic opportunity SquareEnix.

On the contrary: this one proves that they can be a fun romp. The second fight against Geosgaeno, however...

Geosgaeno is the boss at the start that, as Tidus, you have to escape from. And then he's blocking your path towards Anima. Since it's an underwater battle, you can only use Wakka, Tidus and Rikku, so it's a pain in the ass since he's not the type of enemy those three are suited for.

I'd probably have a bigger "trauma" from that fight, if it hadn't been preemptively overshadowed by almost a week of grinding Yuna, to get Holy and defeat Yunalesca.
Screw Penance and the Dark Aeons, and to hell with Yu Yevon. Geosgaeno is the bane of the world.

I just didn't have any anti petrification on anyone. Which I later found to be the most used status ailment in the game...
