Description
The book was constructed from a very old computer book. The pages were soaked in water to cause them to swell and wrinkle. Once dried, they text blocks were sewn together, and the cover coated with tissue paper and thin glue, acrylic paint and Skulpy lettering.Related content

Love this!! I'm surprised so few commented on it!! I really like the weathering on it, the pages looks like they are a thousand years old! May I ask what is used for the clasp? Looks like a fonctionnal clasp, but it might be just a permanent clasp! Thank you!

Thanks. It is a functioning clasp, but kinda pointless since the book is glued shut (its made from a computer repair manual). I made it using a sheet of brass, and a jewelers saw. Its time consuming, but its the best way to made small brass parts. the tiny rivets are metal brads from Michael's scrap booking section.

Oooh! That old jeweler's saw! Never quite put my mind into getting one! Looks really time consuming! What kind of gauge is easiest to saw throught? If I may ask! 32-30 gauge? up to 26? Thank you so much to take your time to answer me!

I'm not really up on my metal gauge's I'm afraid. I tend to use the thinnest I can get to the point where it doesn't flex easily. It does take awhile, but its really the best way to cut thin metal without marring the surface the way metal snips do. And it allows finer detail.
The biggest secret is to not put pressure on the blade. As I learned in a class in Arizona, don't even use your thumb and forefinger when you're holding the saw.

I really love the effect you've made with this one, i never thought to use tissue for a antiqued leather effect (as i use normal leather for my books), is the finish pretty durable?

Fairly durable. Though I wouldn't toss it around much as it doesn't handle scrapes well. The white glue coating helps a lot, plus I hit it with a coat or two of matte clearcoat.
