Description Évariste Barreau was born in 1795, growing up in the small French town Bayonne. His early life was relatively normal until he was drafted into the French army in 1812, just in time for Napoleon's invasion of Russia. Sometime after the French armies defeat, and retreat from the northern country, the young Barreau became involved with the cult of the nameless entity known simply as the God of Rust, an undying and unstoppable force of corruption. He's known to have stayed in Russian for at least five more years, worshipping the god, and chronicling the groups lore and history.

In 1817, he began travelling the Europe, Africa, and parts of Asia, gathering lore and tales of magick from surviving wizards, cultists, and learned folk involving manifestations of this destructive entity and cataloging them. Even learning to summon Eun, the nameless five-armed gods avatar and servant on Earth.

For most of his life the French mystic travelled the globe. Although damaged in spirit, the aged Barreau eventually settled in a poor, run down district in Paris, the Rue Amandine around 1854, at the age of 58. Neighbors report he was quiet, but was taken to strange mutterings, and hosting mysterious visitors in the night. Fortunately however unlike many of these tales, there are no reports of missing tenants, or late night chantings.

In fact, the old gentleman might have faded into obscurity had it not been the unusual details surrounding the manner of his death.

April 21st, 1857 was an unseasonably chilly morning, and Messr Barreau was seen by many locals and shopkeepers buying food, and oddly, a selection of cheap iron tools at the local shops. Apart from an unusually haggard, and distracted air, he seemed perfectly normal as he made his purchases and hurried home.
Sometime during that night, the citizens of the Rue Amandine became aware of a strong, rotten odor permeating the area, quite different from the usual odors from the nearby sewer system. Overnight, the smell became quite overbearing until by morning, the locals decided to try and track down this source of the overwhelming stench, which was eventually traced to the apartment of Messr Barreau. No answer came to their knocks and eventually the landlord was summoned with a key. Upon entering the room, the group was all but staggered by a miasma of mold and rot that permeated the dwelling until the retching group could throw opened the moldy window panes for air. Thick layers of dust covered every surface, metal items were found to be rusted and useless, food in the kitchen little more than piles of mold covered mush, and even the wine in an unopened bottle has later found to be reduced to vinegar. Worst of all, lying sprawled on the floor beside the table, lay the barely recognizable remains of Évariste Barreau, bloated, and partly decayed as if he'd been lying dead for many days. This despite the fact that neighbors swore they had seen the old man healthy and active only the day before.

Authorities eventually seized the contents of the room, and had the body buried at public expense. Most of the rooms contents were unsalvageable and were disposed of. A number of books, said to include a number of worm-eaten tomes of ancient lore, including, it is said, a rare copy of De Vermis Mysteriis were passed on to the local university. Most valuable of all was a thick, damaged tome clad in iron, and inscribed inside with the name "De Deus Robigonis et Deus Corruptionis"   "The God of Rust and Corruption". It contained the eccentric mystics lifetime of work. A veritable bible dedicated to the ancient lore, works, and summoning of his beloved God of Rust.
