pretty good tutorial but you should've noted that when making smaller art you can anti-alias the black line to make the whole picture look even better..

ok, seriously, i feel like such a noob right now, but i cant find the pencil tool?? I got Ps CS3, is it just me, or doesent it exist at all D:

Isn't it in the same button as the brush? :] Right click on brush and it ought to give you listing with pencil, at least that's how it is in CS. Just like with paintbucket and gradients.

I don't think MS paint supports transparency at all. You would need other software for that.
There is some good freeware out there, like GIMP and GraphicsGale, so I suggest you take a look around.

When you say do each section individually on the second part, do you mean each dot (er. .square?) or each part thats straight?
