question: do you place the hands and the face on different layers?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

abolatinge In reply to rubberbend [2009-07-17 19:44:46 +0000 UTC]

tbh it depends on whether you want to move them or not. Layers tend to move on their own and when you move a layer you move it all. So if you want it to wave for example, draw the hand on a different layer and then move the layer about. I do every bit on a separate layer including eyes.

I don't know whether this's a general rule for all for all programs but I've found it's easier to use different layers anyway. You can just delete the whole layer - or what's on the layer- if you don't like it rather than meticulously get it off. I'd imagine it's much the same with any kind of art.

hope that helped ^^

This is going to be very helpful ^^ tHis is good

how big does the pencil size have to be?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

abolatinge In reply to Mew-Zakuro [2009-07-17 19:46:14 +0000 UTC]

I don't think it really matters. As long as it's a square. Depends on the size of your emote. I mean, if you're making a giant one for something you'd need lots of little squares where a big one'd do just fine and you obviously can't do big squares for a small one.

hope that helped ^^

this is a very nice tutorial. It really made sense and was much easier than actually pixel painting, which can be a pain. i used it here [link]
thank you.

is this done in paint??? I need proper (not that these are bad) instructions i'm dumb.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

abolatinge In reply to Mythologydude [2009-07-17 19:51:47 +0000 UTC]

It's basically the same. I mean, you can't use gradients or layers (I think) but you still do the same number of pixels and you can still zoom in. It's just a little harder to aim ^^

carostar680 [2008-10-21 18:04:28 +0000 UTC]

grrr i dont have adobe elements or w.e is paint available to use for this? *pwetty pwese?* if not well, im stuffed

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

abolatinge In reply to carostar680 [2009-07-17 19:52:28 +0000 UTC]

well for the pixels you can just use paint but if you want the gradients or layers you'll need a better program.

the gimp is free, photoshop is expensive unless your some sort of illegal hacker.

You can get free trials of Photoshop from the Adobe site. And thanks for letting me know which programs. *hug*
