Another practice comic page. The concept being one that has been questioned by the fandom since the beginnings of the franchise.I see Ash's father as a cross between Ash himself and Sir Aaron/Riley...at least design wise. He could still be a homeless bum and look cool. XD
And seven was just a random number. Ash is still freaking 10.. I blame Mewtwo. Seriously, altering reality? Ain't that altering space and time in a sense? Mewtwo stepped on Dialga and Palkia's turf..<.< And then there's Celebi...

As far as Celebi goes, I think it's more like Dialga granted Celebi the ability to pass through time. If that wasn't the case, he'd probably be hunting her down... but Mewtwo is another story since he was a 'manmade' pokemon.

I always though Ash's dad would be Bruce Willis. That's why they don't want him to get older cause once Ash does get older he'll lose his Ash face and look like Bruce Willis thus destroying the formula of the anime.

lol that's the one question which was never answered for his character and was always left in the air due to the animators inability to come up with new ideas but I always had the idea that Giovanni was going to be discovered as Ash's true father. I mean think about it, Ash's mother is a farmer, growing crops, running them into the city, selling them and then bringing the money back to feed the family, pay the bills, etc but, I highly doubt one lone female farmer could ever produce enough crops to feed herself and her son and pay for him to go on her adventures alone. This is where I figured Giovanni came in. I'm guessing Ash's mother fell in love with the man before finding out he was the leader of a huge criminal organization and then left him while she was pregnant but Giovanni, still having an attachment to his son, opened up and account that Delia could open and use whenever she needed as she told herself that his father wasn't there because he "left" to become a Pokemon Master, thus easing the pain somewhat and whenever she was feeling desperate and unable to support herself and her son's dreams, she would reach into the account Giovanni left for her, while hiding the guilt of her past and actions with the overly fond smile of hers. Think it would add a bit of weight to the otherwise, repetitive plot the Pokemon anime seems to have... oh hell I rambled again my bad >.<

That sounds suspiciously like what the Pokemon Musical was thinking when it came to the question of who is Ash's dad.
Giovanni was supposedly the one in the musical...but the fans laughed it off as ridiculous and impossible.
I don't buy it either.

From what I heard its pretty much half and half on the subject but truthfully, I've always liked the idea of Giovanni being Ash's (Red's) real father. It would make for an more interesting story. And I've never once heard of Pokemon Musical or On Ice. Just saying, I avoid anything related to the two topics when anime is involved

Awesome, this could probably be Takeshi Shudō's(the Anime's first chief writer to the beginning of Johto, and of the first three movie's) intention. If I remember good, Ash's father was supposed to leave his family, because he was disappointed in his failure to become a Pokemon Master, very similarly to Brock's dad. Also, it was the original intention for Ash to win the Kanto league, and later Johto one, but writers, simply decided to reuse the same ending of Ash loosing , over and over again. I mention this because it shows how the later writers derailed the motive of Ash succeeding, where his father lost, somewhat putting Ash in a sad repetition of his fathers fate. Also one again, Ash looks awesome in the FRLG clothes!
